For sleeping, Villa Vanaki is composed of 4 bedrooms, 2 on the ground floor, 2 on the 1st floor and 2 and 1/2 bathrooms all located on the ground floor. One of the upstairs bedroom is only accessible through a staircase located in one of the bedrooms on the ground floor so in order to go up to that bedroom, you have to go through the bedroom on the ground floor. Also this specific bedroom although great for older kids, doesn’t have an actual door so privacy is limited. All bedrooms have king size beds and are equipped with A/C. Both bedrooms on the 1st floor have a unique view of the lagoon from the dormer windows and guests will get to wake up to the vibrant colors of the lagoon. Villa Meheana is composed of 4 parts inspired by Polynesian architecture with thatched roofs and wooden decks. Villa Meheana has a large planted garden offering shadows when the sun is too hot. The garden opens onto a wide white sand beach and blue lagoon with shallow waters. Guests may swim or kayak just in front of the villa. A small lagoon channel is accessible for 25 ft boat size. The middle part welcomes the common areas including the fully equipped kitchen, the dining table and the TV lounge. It opens onto a large furnished covered terrace facing the lagoon. When facing the lagoon the part on the right hand side is welcoming a large bedroom with a king size bed and a full bathroom, as well as an additional bedroom with bunk bed featuring 2 double mattresses ideal for 4 teenagers, kids or adults happy to share! The main house: 125 m², three and a half times the size of a fare, and the only accommodation here with a pool of its own. Four bedrooms, four real beds, two king (2 m by 2 m) and two doubles (140 cm), so a group of eight sleeps behind four doors and nobody takes a sofa. Read that with two things in mind. There is one bathroom inside the house, with a second bathroom in the common area a few steps away, which suits one family group better than eight unrelated adults. And one of the four bedrooms is a separate building in the garden rather than a room off the corridor, which is either exactly what you want for teenagers or grandparents, or not what you want at all. There is a dining room, a room set up as a workspace, and a pool table. The kitchen is the reason to cook here. It has the only oven and the only dishwasher on the property, so this is where a long dinner for eight actually happens rather than a reheated one. The grocery store is directly across the road for the daily shop, and the pizza truck two minutes away delivers. On the night nobody wants to cook at all, Kathy will: international home cooking, ordered by 4pm, served at a table on the sand or brought up to the house. Snorkelling gear and free kayaks are provided. Check-in is from 2 pm, an hour later than the fare, because the house takes longer to turn around. We run the property ourselves, so there is always someone to ask. Breakfast in the morning, a briefing before you take a kayak out, a restaurant table booked, a tour or a taxi arranged, the ferry sorted. Beyond that we stay out of your way. If you would like to talk on the terrace in the evening we are glad to, and if you would rather not see anyone, that is just as easy. Shoes come off at the door. Smoking is outdoors only. If you are planning a wedding or a celebration, talk to us first and we will help you organise it; please do not book for an event without arranging it with us in advance. We live surrounded by nature, so you will meet some of it. One island dog lives here with us. Roosters and chickens are not ours and do not live on the property, though you will hear them now and then, as you will anywhere on Moorea. The lizard is a sacred symbol of the island, and is what its name means, so we watch them rather than chase them away. Being close to the forest, an insect finds its way in from time to time despite regular treatment. Please do not feed the animals. Rent a car. It is the honest answer for Moorea: the beaches, the restaurants and the viewpoints are spread right around the island, and there is free parking for you inside the property. Rental desks are at the airport and beside the ferry terminal. A scooter costs less and works well if you are travelling light. If you would rather not drive, a tour operator can plan each day and collect you here. Tell us and we will put you in touch. Fare Tiare is one of two identical fare standing side by side, the first of the three on the beach and the closest to the shared pool and the beachfront jacuzzi. Inside: a queen bed with a memory-foam mattress, a living space with a sofa bed that opens for two more, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. Air conditioning, mosquito screens on the windows, wifi and a television. Your own wooden deck runs along the front, with a table for eating outside and the beach a few steps beyond it. What Fare Tiare has in front of it is the wave. The Haapiti pass is one of the best-known breaks in French Polynesia and it works all year, close enough that you can read the swell from the deck before you have finished your coffee. Check-in is from midday, so on the day you arrive you are on the water that afternoon rather than the next morning. Breakfast is included, and it is out early enough to eat before you paddle. Fare Tiare and Fare Taina are identical and adjacent. Booked together they sleep eight across two separate fare, each with its own kitchen, bathroom and deck. We run the property ourselves, so there is always someone to ask. Being close to the forest, an insect finds its way in from time to time despite regular treatment. Please do not feed the animals. Rent a car. It is the honest answer for Moorea: the beaches, the restaurants and the viewpoints are spread right around the island, and there is free parking for you inside the property. The windows are fitted with louvred shutters that can be closed but are not fitted with glass panes.
