Beautifully restored soldier’s barracks to sleep 10 people

Clarecastle, Co Clare, IE
8 Bedrooms 10 Guests
Aug 27 - Sep 1
$1,124 night

This is a lovingly restored home with a rich history dating right back to 1778. Originally a soldier’s barracks, this property has been brought back to life brick by brick by its dedicated owners, resulting in a large, luxury vacation home available now for rentals. Set in a private and secluded gated Courtyard, this is one of two identical homes. It has four stories. The living areas are all located on the ground floor and the bedrooms are spread over the top three floors. The kitchen and dining area are warm and cosy and bright. This room stretches from the front right through to the back of the building. The dining table is solid oak and can seat up to 10 people. There is a wood burning stove alongside the table so it is a lovely place to gather in the evening and linger over a meal or share some time together. The kitchen is very well equipped and has some of the original features of the house on display. It has all the appliances you will need along with crockery, glassware, cutlery and cooking equipment. It is a kitchen that was made to be used. There is a separate large utility room with a washing machine and dryer. There is also a guest toilet downstairs. The sitting room is comfortable and cosy and features a wood burning stove along with a supply of timber for your stay. This room has a TV and relaxing couches and armchairs – the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring the County of Clare. There are eight bedrooms and each of them is ensuite. There are three king bedrooms on both the second and third floors (so 6 king beds in all) and the 4th floor has two small double rooms – ideal for children which share a bathroom between. Two of the king bedrooms have a small sitting area and TV. There is a beautiful stand-alone bath on each of the floors – a real treat to enjoy during your stay. Although there are 8 bedrooms, we have set the ideal number of people to 10 as that is the number that could most comfortably stay and enjoy the house. Larger groups could also rent the other houses within the courtyard. The Courtyard is shared among the houses and offers plenty of parking right outside your door. At night time the houses are lit up spectacularly. To the rear is the beautifully landscaped shared walled garden area. Filled with flowers and seating here and there, this would be a wonderful place to escape with a good book or newspaper. A private Chef is available on request to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner. This needs to be pre-arranged. Please enquire with us directly if within 6 weeks prior to arrival. For larger groups, the Straw House onsite can be reserved for private dining or for a get-together. Please enquire on booking.

perfect for two people

Clarecastle, Co Clare, IE
1 Bedrooms 2 Guests
Aug 26 - 31
$361 night

This beautiful cosy one bedroom cottage is the perfect blend of old meets new. It retains all the traditional features and open brickwork of the building but it has been transformed and modernised to make this charming retreat perfect for one or two people. The vibrant coloured half door gives an indication of the style and beauty of this property before you even go inside. The reclaimed wooden flooring and exposed brickwork come together to create a welcoming and cosy space. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, microwave etc and there is a lovely little dining table which tuck perfectly against the wall to make sure you have plenty of space. The sitting room has a wood burning stove and a floor to ceiling feature fireplace behind. The couches and armchair are weathered and comfy and the perfect place to curl up with a good book or snuggle up and watch your favourite movie. If you want to simply sit and relax, your eye will be drawn upwards to the wooden shuttered window and the shelves below which feature an array of interesting collectables. The bathroom is downstairs and is wet-room style with shower, sink and toilet. Alongside this is the full utility area with sink, washing machine and tumble dryer cleverly tucked away into this space. To get to the bedroom you must go up the beautiful staircase which brings you to the mezzanine level. From here you can look down below you to the sitting room or continue conversing with the other person downstairs. For privacy though there is a screen which can be pulled over if required. There is plenty of space for storage and there is a wrought iron clothes rail to hang what is needed. The attention to detail in the Coach House is second to none and is mirrored in its neighbouring homes – Thomond House, Castle House and De Clare House all within this gated private courtyard. For a special occasion, the Straw House on the opposite end of the courtyard has been transformed into a little chapel style room which has already hosted a number of weddings and celebrations. Whether you are looking to escape on your own for a few days or to cosy up with a loved one, the Coach House is just perfect for your needs. We look forward to welcoming you….
