The Accommodations
Pull into your parking space in this lovely palm-shaded neighborhood near South Beach on Tybee Island. Surrounded by a spacious wood sun deck, this unique home has an outdoor staircase to the second floor, a great screened porch with a view balcony above and a sea-blue entry door.
When you walk into the open main floor, you’ll be drawn to the comfy sectional in the living room that doubles as an ideal conversation nook. A sliding glass door opens up the room to streams of natural light while a ceiling fan keeps the air temperature comfortable. A flat-screen TV offers you entertainment options plus a way to keep up with the weather reports during your stay.
Step out to the well-appointed screen porch through the sliders. It surrounds you with the scent of the sea air while keeping winged pests at bay. Enjoy the light breezes from the Atlantic as you gather for morning coffee or cocktail hour.
Back indoors, you’ll find a table with room for everyone in the dining room. Enjoy communal meals in the tastefully decorated space, complete with a glowing chandelier. An adjacent breakfast bar offers stool seating for quick lunches or fly-by snacks throughout the day.
The open kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, gas range/oven and microwave. The drawers and cupboards are well-stocked with dishes, glassware, cookware and utensils. Just add your favorite ingredients and some fresh fare from Tybee markets and you’ve got the makings for a gourmet evening.
One of three bedrooms is on the main floor too. Just beyond the cool sliding barn-style door, you’ll find a brightly decorated bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a chest of drawers and nightstands. The contemporary ensuite bathroom has a shower and a roomy countertop for all your toiletries. You’ll even find a supply of fluffy towels.
Head up the centerpiece spiral staircase to private sleeping quarters. This lofty space includes a queen-sized bedroom and a king-sized bedroom, both with glass-doored access to the inviting balcony. Each has a ceiling fan, a flat-screen TV and a fresh, relaxing aura. The shared bathroom features a separate sink/vanity and a shower.
Balcony seating is ideal for sun bathing and enjoying the warm Tybee Island sea breezes. Two chaise-lounge chairs complete the balcony vignette. They are a perfect place to unwind and get some Vitamin D.
Extras that are sure to make your Tybee Island vacation rental experience complete include a washer and dryer, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and cable TV. There’s even a firepit in the yard to gather around as the sun goes down.
Tybee Island To-Do List
After Dune Delight is a short walk from South Beach. Pull up an umbrella on the strand and settle in for a fabulous day. Enjoy a refreshing swim, play in the surf and get started on that decadent novel.
One of the island’s most remarkable landmarks, the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion, is impossible to overlook. Fortunately, you don’t have to because it is open for exploration. Walk out to the end where the pavilion juts out above the aqua-blue water. There’s a snack bar and picnic tables. You’re likely to see some anglers trying their luck over the railing. You may even happen upon a live music performance or even a wedding.
When you want to take a break from the salty sea water, stroll over to our swimming pool, one of the premium perks that comes with your vacation home. You can cool off and get some exercise while you meet other guests of vacation rentals on Tybee.
With plenty to see and experience further afield, you have your choice of transportation. Bicycles and kayaks are available to rent, and a few of the vendors will even deliver your equipment.
Since you are staying at the south end of the island, you can kayak to Little Tybee, a wetland that covers about twice the real estate as Tybee proper. It is about a mile to the south, and if you set out as the tide is receding, you can get there in less than an hour. You won’t encounter wake from motorized boats, so it’s a relaxing paddle trip.
You can hike around little Tybee, and some hearty visitors even camp overnight. However, Little Tybee is more of a nature preserve than a campground. You’ll get to see an abundance of native flora and fauna, and it’s a rewarding way for nature lovers to spend part of a day.
With much more to see and experience on Tybee, you’ll find your days are a happy mix of relaxation and activity.
