There are homes you walk into, and homes that feel like they’ve been waiting for you. The Ray in Alibaug belongs to the second kind. Tucked into the quiet hills of Saral, this five-bedroom estate began as a family’s dream to build a retreat shaped by light, land and time. Today, it feels less like a villa and more like a gentle pause from the world.
The first glimpse arrives slowly. The road curves, the trees open, and the home emerges from the hillside as if grown from it. Architecture Brio designed The Ray to move with the terrain rather than stand apart from it, using stone, timber and long bands of glass that draw the landscape indoors.
Inside, the interiors are warm and grounded. Handcrafted textures, soft earth tones and airy spaces create a feeling of quiet familiarity. Every room frames a different view of the valley and the distant Arabian Sea.
And then there is the curved infinity pool, gliding along the home like a private coastline. Combined with its seamless indoor outdoor flow, it turns every moment here into something unhurried, intimate and impossibly serene.
The Ray stands out as one of the top villas in Alibaug due to its:
Thoughtful design by Architecture Brio that blends the villa seamlessly into the natural hillside
Five spacious bedrooms that offer privacy while framing uninterrupted views of the valley and distant sea
Handcrafted interiors filled with natural textures, curated furniture and warm, earthy tones that create an effortless sense of calm
Infinity pool that curves along the villa’s architecture, giving the feeling of floating above the landscape
Rare indoor outdoor flow where glass walls, open decks and breezy corridors make nature a constant part of the experience
Backstory rooted in a family’s vision for a retreat shaped by light and land, which gives the property a soul that many luxury villas lack.
PLAN YOUR ALIBAUG ITINERARY
Immersive. Sculptural. Serene – That’s what a day at The Ray looks like.
A day at The Ray unfolds slowly, beginning with soft morning light streaming through the glass walls as you wake to views of the valley and quiet treetops. Breakfast can be enjoyed on the open deck, where the air is cool and the landscape feels close enough to touch. Late mornings are best spent drifting between the living room and the poolside verandah, letting the curved infinity pool become your private horizon line.
As the sun climbs, the breezy interiors offer a perfect retreat for reading, journaling or simply doing nothing at all. Afternoons often pull you back outdoors, whether it’s a long swim, a nap in the shaded lounge or a walk through the surrounding greens.
Evenings are when The Ray feels truly magical. The sky turns amber, the valley quiets, and the home glows warmly from within. You can gather for a slow dinner, settle into the cosy living space or enjoy a peaceful night by the water, ending the day just as gently as it began.

Known for its sandy beaches, clean waters, and refreshing greenery, Alibag is a popular weekend getaway that offers a slice of coastal charm.
The town's centerpiece is Alibag Beach, which provides a picturesque view of the Colaba Fort, accessible during low tide. This fort, once a cornerstone of the Maratha Empire, stands as a testament to the region's historical significance and offers a glimpse into India's rich past. Visitors can explore its ruins and enjoy panoramic views of the Arabian Sea.
Another highlight is the Kanakeshwar Forest, a dense woodland area that is home to the Kanakeshwar Devasthan Temple. The temple, perched on a hill, requires a climb of over 500 steps, rewarding visitors with spiritual solace and stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape.

Alibag is also known for its agricultural produce, particularly coconuts and betel nuts, and the region's cuisine reflects this. Seafood lovers will relish the opportunity to sample fresh fish, prawns, and crabs, often prepared in traditional Konkani and Malvani styles.
The town's laid-back atmosphere is complemented by its cultural scene, with local festivals and markets offering a taste of the regional lifestyle. Visitors can browse through the local markets for handcrafted goods, such as Kolhapuri chappals (leather sandals), and other artisanal items.
For a more secluded experience, the nearby beaches of Nagaon, Kihim, and Varsoli provide quieter alternatives to Alibag Beach, with opportunities for water sports and sunbathing. These spots are perfect for those looking to unwind and enjoy the coastal serenity.
In essence, Alibag is a destination that offers a blend of history, nature, and culture, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful Arabian Sea.
