The island's beaches are among its most alluring attractions, with miles of soft sand and gentle waves that beckon beachgoers to unwind and soak up the sun. History enthusiasts will appreciate the island's storied past, which is evident in its historic plantations and churches. The Edisto Island Historic Preservation Society Museum offers a glimpse into the island's heritage, showcasing artifacts and exhibits that tell the story of its Native American inhabitants, colonial settlers, and the Gullah culture of the Sea Islands.

The island's waterways, including the Edisto River, are ideal for paddling and exploring the scenic marshlands. Fishing charters are also available for those looking to reel in a big catch from the rich waters surrounding the island.
The local cuisine is another highlight, with an emphasis on fresh seafood. Visitors can indulge in Southern specialties at the island's restaurants or pick up locally grown produce and seafood from roadside stands to prepare their own coastal feast.
