Home details
The small traditional port of Vourkari is a call for yachts with a vibrant selection of tavernas, shops, art galleries, and bars within walking distance. The Villa has been lovingly constructed in a traditional Cycladic style and is built on 3 levels using natural materials. It has stunning sea views from the large wraparound terraces that surround the villa. The villa is ideal for families and can accommodate 5 to 8 people when there are at least 2 children.
It has five air-conditioned bedrooms; three bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and a BBQ grill outside in the yard. There are new appliances, TV, DVD, Wi-Fi, and a laundry room with a new washing machine and a drier. The guest suite is on the top floor that includes two adjacent bedrooms with a queen size bed, a pull out queen size sofa that can comfortably accommodate two young children, and an en suite bathroom. Three steps below is the second level, an open-plan that comprises the lounge area, separate dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen.
Vourkari, Kea: The little harbor of Vourkari is a 10 – 15-minute walk from the house and a delightful place popular with the yachting crowd. Although there is no beach in Vourkari itself, the lovely sandy beach at Yialiskari with its recommended beach taverna is less than a 15-minute walk away. Vourkari has quite a buzzy nightlife and there are several good tavernas and a couple of trendy bars. There is also a mini-market and a couple of arts and crafts shops.
Otzias Bay, Korissia, Ioulis: Otzias Bay and Korissia are only a ten minute drive from the house (there is a local bus service) and the pretty island capital Ioulis is a further 15 minutes up the mountain (there is a local bus service). The Otzias Bay has a long stretched sandy beach with a lagoon section that makes it ideal for swimming for families with small children. Unlike others, Kea remains a quaint, low profile, rugged island, with few tourists, and an abundance of pristine beaches, beautiful blue-green waters, and ancient cobblestone marked footpaths, bird-watching nature reserves, few hotels and mostly, privately owned houses. Seasonally or permanently, to relax and enjoy, Kea boasts known names of the Greek and international jet-set in business, law, science, and art, as it appeals to the discerning visitor who seeks tranquility, authenticity and a genuinely Aegean environment.

About the area
Kea, also known as Tzia, is a serene and picturesque island in the Cyclades archipelago of Greece. It's a hidden gem that offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of more tourist-heavy Greek islands. With its proximity to Athens, it's an ideal destination for both short getaways and extended stays.
The island's landscape is a harmonious blend of rugged hills, verdant valleys, and idyllic beaches. Kea's coastline is dotted with sandy coves and clear blue waters, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The island's most famous beach, Otzias, is a family-friendly spot with shallow waters and tamarisk trees providing natural shade.
Kea's charm also lies in its rich history and culture. The ancient city of Karthea, with its impressive temple ruins and theater, offers a glimpse into the island's storied past. The Archaeological Museum of Kea in Ioulida, the island's capital, further showcases artifacts that span millennia, from the Cycladic to the Roman era.
Ioulida itself is a delight to explore, with its narrow, winding streets, traditional stone houses, and the iconic stone Lion of Kea, a mysterious, ancient sculpture carved into the rock. The town's elevated position provides stunning panoramic views of the island and the Aegean Sea.
For hikers and nature enthusiasts, Kea boasts a network of well-marked trails that crisscross the island, leading through olive groves, past ancient ruins, and into the heart of its unspoiled natural beauty. The paths offer varying levels of difficulty, ensuring that everyone from casual walkers to experienced trekkers can find a route to suit their abilities.
Gastronomy on Kea is a highlight, with local tavernas serving up traditional Greek dishes made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The island is particularly known for its honey and almond treats, which are a must-try for any visitor.
Kea also hosts a variety of cultural events throughout the year, including summer festivals that celebrate music, dance, and local customs, providing travelers with an authentic taste of Greek island life.
In essence, Kea is a destination that offers a peaceful retreat with its beautiful natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's a place where one can easily slip into the slow rhythm of island life and leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
