Home details
The villa stands in a terrain of about 5000 m2 with oak trees. It offers a magnificent 180 degrees south-west-north view, which features Cape Sounion, the island of Makronissos and the eastern mainland coast and an idyllic rural landscape in the foreground. A hill with a small whitewashed church is a landmark that adds a scenic touch to the picturesque landscape. The sunset view is breath-taking.
The villa is composed of the main house and 2 guest houses. The main house has a total surface of 150 m2 and can sleep 4 adults and 1 child.
The main house has two bedrooms at two split levels. The master bedroom at the upper level, with stunning views of the Aegean Sea, has a double bed and an “en suite” shower-room and WC. It can also accommodate a baby cot. The second bedroom at the lower level, with direct access to the oak field and its own private terrace, has two single beds which can become a double bed with a separate shower-room and WC. A storage room is also at this level.
The living/dining area is a large single space at the main ground floor with windows offering a panoramic view and giving, through glass doors, to spacious verandas. It is decorated with modern furniture and equipped with TV, DVD, high speed Wi-Fi internet and a Bose sound system. There is a fully equipped kitchen. At one end of this space is an elevated small office area comprising a desk, drawers and a reading/relaxing sofa that could also be used as a bed.
The adjacent 30m2 stone guesthouse, with separate access, can accommodate 3 persons. It is composed of a family room with two single beds which can be converted to a double bed, a single sofa-bed, a shower + WC and a kitchenette with cooking equipment, coffee machine and refrigerator.
The placement of the sleeping quarters secures a high degree of privacy but with direct access to the living quarters and to outdoor activities.
There is a large outside terrace with pergolas. It features a 3,5x11 meters infinity swimming pool, sun-beds and a built=in sofa for relaxation, an open air barbecue, armchairs and furniture for outside dining for 10 persons.
Particular attention has been given to achieve high sustainability standards. The external walls were cladded with high spec insulation lining achieving year-round comfortable conditions. All bedroom quarters were built with stone while windows were carefully placed diagonally to allow for cool summer breeze to circulate uniformly through the rooms. There is constant supply of hot water provided primarily by solar panels.
For out-of-season cold weather the house is heated efficiently by a compact high energy fireplace placed at the centre of the living area which becomes the focus of activities. Additional heat is provided by electric convectors throughout the house.
All lighting fixtures operate with LED lightbulbs.
The design and construction relied heavily on traditional techniques and materials. Stone has been used extensively in walls and terrace formation for landscaping.Water needs are assisted by a cistern of 60 m3 capacity in which rain water is collected.
There is ample parking space at the side of the terrain. Villa Acorn can be rented independently or, for larger groups, with one or both of its adjacent villas Levanda and Melita.

About the area
Kea, also known as Tzia, is a serene and picturesque island in the Cyclades archipelago of Greece. It's a hidden gem that offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of more tourist-heavy Greek islands. With its proximity to Athens, it's an ideal destination for both short getaways and extended stays.
The island's landscape is a harmonious blend of rugged hills, verdant valleys, and idyllic beaches. Kea's coastline is dotted with sandy coves and clear blue waters, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The island's most famous beach, Otzias, is a family-friendly spot with shallow waters and tamarisk trees providing natural shade.
Kea's charm also lies in its rich history and culture. The ancient city of Karthea, with its impressive temple ruins and theater, offers a glimpse into the island's storied past. The Archaeological Museum of Kea in Ioulida, the island's capital, further showcases artifacts that span millennia, from the Cycladic to the Roman era.
Ioulida itself is a delight to explore, with its narrow, winding streets, traditional stone houses, and the iconic stone Lion of Kea, a mysterious, ancient sculpture carved into the rock. The town's elevated position provides stunning panoramic views of the island and the Aegean Sea.
For hikers and nature enthusiasts, Kea boasts a network of well-marked trails that crisscross the island, leading through olive groves, past ancient ruins, and into the heart of its unspoiled natural beauty. The paths offer varying levels of difficulty, ensuring that everyone from casual walkers to experienced trekkers can find a route to suit their abilities.
Gastronomy on Kea is a highlight, with local tavernas serving up traditional Greek dishes made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The island is particularly known for its honey and almond treats, which are a must-try for any visitor.
Kea also hosts a variety of cultural events throughout the year, including summer festivals that celebrate music, dance, and local customs, providing travelers with an authentic taste of Greek island life.
In essence, Kea is a destination that offers a peaceful retreat with its beautiful natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's a place where one can easily slip into the slow rhythm of island life and leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
