Welcome to beautiful Florissant in the Rocky Mountains, about 40 minutes west of Colorado Springs. Florissant is a great location for outdoorsy folk, as the town is surrounded by opportunities for hiking, hunting, fishing, rafting, ziplining, skiing, snowshoeing, and much more. In less than 30 minutes, you can easily reach a wide variety of parks, peaks, canyons, lakes, and open spaces, not to mention once-in-a-lifetime views and photo-worthy geological wonders. The Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument (6 minutes) offers hours of hiking enjoyment with nature trails and outdoor exhibits, including a trail that leads through the beds of ancient Lake Florissant and passes giant petrified redwood tree stumps. The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center is a non-profit sanctuary for wolves and wild canines that offers guided tours. The small center of Florissant provides some casual dining options, including an (exceptionally good) restaurant/brewery — The Iron Tree & Funky Town Brewery. You’ll find additional dining options plus shopping, including a supermarket, in nearby Divide, a 15-minute drive away.
