Villa Gunes is a luxurious three-bedroom villa in the mountainside resort of Ovacık. Resting in a tranquil and quiet spot, it has the most beautiful views over the valley, the surrounding mountains and the sea below. You’re only ten minutes’ drive from Fethiye where you’ll find a harbour lined with restaurants, shops and markets selling fresh produce, alongside renowned cultural sites.
The Turkish villa elegantly combines traditional Mediterranean architecture with comfortable, modern interiors. Outside, the building has classic whitewashed walls and feature columns, while inside the rooms are light, airy and spacious with cream-coloured furnishings. With a fully-equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi throughout and air conditioning, it’s designed for a real home-from-home experience.
The views from the villa’s pool – maple and cedar trees littered along the hillside – will make you want to up sticks and explore the rural surrounds. Sun loungers and a shaded al fresco dining area complete the serene set up, along with rustic stone walls and gardens dotted with plants and shrubs. You can take a cooling dip in the crystal-clear waters before finding your prime sunbathing spot.
All the rooms are equally stylish and inviting. From both the kitchen and lounge, there are doors leading out onto the patio and pool area with stunning views over the valley. The lighted staircase leads onto the first floor where there are two double bedrooms complete with fitted wardrobes and en-suite bathrooms. On the second floor, there’s another double bedroom with an en-suite. All of the bedrooms at Villa Gunes have balconies, so you enjoy your morning coffee with tranquil vistas.
Ovacık is Hisaronu’s sleepy neighbour. It’s overlooked by the colossal Babadag Mountain, surrounded by lush pine forests and offers distant views across Oludeniz Bay. Decamp to sunny stretches of sandy beaches or get your fill of ancient history. About the area
Fethiye, located on the Turquoise Coast of Turkey, is a treasure trove of natural beauty, ancient history, and serene beaches that make it a compelling destination for travelers. The town is nestled in a sheltered bay with stunning mountain backdrops and boasts some of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the country.
One of the main attractions in Fethiye is the Lycian rock tombs, including the impressive Tomb of Amyntas, which dates back to the 4th century BC. These ancient tombs are carved directly into the cliff faces and offer a window into the area's rich history. The Fethiye Museum also provides further insight into the region's past with artifacts from the Lycian, Roman, and Ottoman periods.
For beach lovers, the famous Ölüdeniz Beach, with its blue lagoon and pebble shores, is a short distance away. Paragliding from the Babadağ Mountain offers breathtaking views of the lagoon and is a must-do for adventure seekers. Butterfly Valley, a secluded beach accessible only by boat or via a challenging hike, is another natural wonder where you can relax or swim in crystal-clear waters.
The ghost town of Kayaköy, abandoned after a population exchange between Greece and Turkey in the 1920s, provides a haunting yet fascinating day trip. Visitors can wander through hundreds of deserted houses and churches in a beautiful hillside setting.
Fethiye's harbor is a lively spot where traditional wooden gulets dock alongside luxury yachts. From here, you can embark on a variety of boat trips to explore the numerous islands and hidden coves along the coast. The town's fish market is a culinary highlight where you can select fresh seafood to be cooked at nearby restaurants.
The weekly market in Fethiye is a colorful and bustling affair where you can find everything from spices and textiles to local produce and crafts. It's an excellent place to experience the local culture and practice your haggling skills.
For those looking to hike, the Lycian Way trail starts near Fethiye and offers some of the most scenic trekking in Turkey, with ancient ruins and stunning coastal views along the way.
In summary, Fethiye is a destination that caters to a variety of tastes, whether you're interested in ancient history, outdoor adventures, or simply soaking up the sun on beautiful beaches. Its combination of natural wonders, historical sites, and vibrant culture ensures a memorable visit for any traveler.
