How does WeatherPromise work?

When booking your stay with Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, you'll have the option to add a WeatherPromise to your stay. WeatherPromise tracks the weather during your trip and, if rainfall exceeds the guaranteed threshold, you'll receive your payout automatically within a few days of returning home.

How can I purchase a WeatherPromise?

What is WeatherPromise?

WeatherPromise offers customized weather guarantees that protect your plans against rainy weather during your stay with Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy. Once you purchase a WeatherPromise as part of your booking with Homes & Villas, WeatherPromise automatically monitors the weather for the duration of that stay. In the event that bad weather days exceed what is "promised," or specified in the purchased offer, WeatherPromise will automatically issue you a payout. Each WeatherPromise offer is customized for each trip. While WeatherPromises are available for destinations around the world, you must be a resident based in the United States to purchase.

How does WeatherPromise work?

Once you book a stay with Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, you will be given the choice to purchase an optional offer, customized by WeatherPromise, which will guarantee a payout if certain rainy conditions occur during your stay. After purchasing, WeatherPromise monitors the weather during your stay. If conditions meet the terms of the offer, WeatherPromise automatically initiates a payout to you. Payouts will be made within 2 business days without any claims or paperwork, although your financial institution may take longer to reflect the payout in your account. WeatherPromise is currently only available for residents of the United States.

What factors might affect the custom WeatherPromise offer I receive?

The pricing and weather thresholds for your custom offer are influenced by historical data for the specific location and season. Thresholds for coverage are then determined to create the optimal balance of price, triggers, and overall experience for your trip or activity. For example, to maximize affordability, a WeatherPromise might guarantee a payout only if you experience a day with more than two hours of rain, rather than triggering the payout based on a day with any amount of rain. Each WeatherPromise offer is uniquely tailored.

How can I track the status of my WeatherPromise payout?

You can easily track the status of your WeatherPromise payout by visiting your personal WeatherPromise dashboard. Your WeatherPromise confirmation email will have the link to your dashboard. You will receive an email from WeatherPromise as soon as payout is due and will also be able to see that information in your dashboard. WeatherPromise technology automatically initiates payouts to qualifying customers. While you will be told about your payout as soon as one is due, the time for it to appear in your account will depend on your own financial institution's processing time. If you haven't received your payout after you were notified one is coming, please contact WeatherPromise directly by replying to your WeatherPromise confirmation email.

How can I cancel my WeatherPromise?

You can cancel your WeatherPromise within 72 hours of purchase. Just reply to your WeatherPromise confirmation email with your request to cancel and WeatherPromise will issue a refund. Please refer to your WeatherPromise contract for more details. If you cancel your entire trip with Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy and purchased a WeatherPromise offer, you are responsible for cancelling your WeatherPromise offer directly by responding to your WeatherPromise confirmation email or contacting support.hvmb@weatherpromise.com.

What does WeatherPromise consider "rainy"?

The definition of a rainy day is customized for each WeatherPromise and described before you purchase and in your WeatherPromise confirmation email. Usually, WeatherPromise defines a rainy day based on a number of hours of rain above a certain intensity (e.g., 1 millimeter of rain per hour). It can vary by location and date.

What does WeatherPromise consider a day?

The definition of a day is always based on local time at your stay destination. Similarly, times of day are always in the local time at your destination. For example, if your personal WeatherPromise offer is based on the amount of rain between 8am and 8pm, those times are always based on local time at your destination.
