Orick, CA, US
3 Bedrooms 8 Guests
Sep 20 - 22
$207 night

Buckaroo Flat at The 8 Mile is the ground-floor apartment on a working stretch of ranch land outside Santa Margarita, three bedrooms and two baths with a rodeo-themed fit-out that leans into where it is rather than apologizing for it. Ground floor means no stairs to negotiate with luggage, kids or anyone who’d rather not climb. The apartment sits about a hundred yards from the 8 Mile House, the main residence on the property, and guests have access to the shared acreage. The quiet out here takes a day to adjust to. Santa Margarita is a couple of minutes down the road — a genuinely small town with a short main street worth walking. The Barn Antiques carries several dozen vendors’ worth of vintage and furniture, and Giddy Up at the Rainbow Hut is a curated vintage and gift shop that punches well above the town’s size. A few good places to eat, and not much else, which is the appeal. Margarita Adventures runs a zipline course on the ranch land nearby, six lines strung across oak-studded hills, about five minutes from the door. Hiking and biking trails start roughly the same distance out, and Santa Margarita Lake — one of the better fishing lakes in the county — is a short drive east. Downtown San Luis Obispo is around fifteen minutes south, with a serious food scene, boutique shopping and the historic mission at its center. Cal Poly sits just north of downtown, about the same drive. Atascadero is ten minutes north and Paso Robles about twenty. The coast at Avila and Shell Beach is roughly half an hour southwest when you want sand and cold water. Property Manager provides an upscale experience with services that elevate your stay and save time so you can enjoy every moment. Guests have access to a 24/7 support team and a tech-enabled concierge to book services, such as fridge stocking, mid-stay cleanings, and private chefs. For anything you need (or never knew you needed), we’re at your service! Wine down and relax in California’s central coast town. Paso Robles invites you to drive through wine country’s scenic backroads, stop at one of 300 award-winning tasting rooms, and stroll through charming downtown, where local artisan shops line the streets. A place to relax and unwind, Paso Robles also offers hot springs that overlook surrounding vineyards. Whether it’s for a romantic weekend or group getaway, take the plunge and come for a visit! Bird watching is popular, as the area is home to many species, and the nearby Morro Bay State Park offers hiking trails and a museum. Whale watching tours are also a favorite during migration seasons.
The best time to visit Morro Bay is from September to November when the weather is pleasant, and the summer crowds have thinned out. However, the climate is mild year-round, making it a great destination any time. Spring is also lovely for wildflowers and birdwatching.
