Just 90 minutes from Glasgow yet surrounded by spectacular West Coast scenery, Ormidale House is available for up to 36 guests across 13 bedrooms, 6 grand reception rooms and 10 bathrooms. Beautifully furnished—largely with antiques and collectables chosen for their robust charm rather than intimidating delicacy—it offers an elegant setting where guests of all ages can unwind without worry. Ideal for family gatherings, corporate parties, intimate weddings, milestone celebrations, and reunions of every kind, Ormidale House can also be combined with the neighbouring Mill House, Old Barn, and Garden Cottage for even larger groups. The estate as a whole has 31 bedrooms. Entertainment and relaxation options abound. The facilities include a large private sauna, seven-seater hot tub, full-size billiard room (with snooker table, table football, air hockey, chess and darts) a tennis court, croquet lawn, sunken trampoline, a dozen shared bikes, six sets of golf clubs, a football pitch, two outdoor table tennis tables, and a scruffy Games Cottage with pool table, ping pong and darts boards. There are over twenty acres of grounds to ensure that guests of all ages have space to play, explore, and unwind. Wildlife lovers will relish sightings of deer and red squirrels, and with virtually no light pollution, the night skies are nothing short of spectacular. Pets and children are warmly welcome. The dining hall, drawing room with its baby grand piano and open fire, and the billiard room provide splendid settings for fine dining and classic country living, befitting a home originally built for members of the Duke of Argyll’s family. The drawing room can seat at least twenty guests in comfort, while the dining table can just about accommodate twenty-four. There are two TV rooms with full Sky TV, and a playroom for kids with one of the world’s largest dolls houses! Upstairs, the generously sized bedrooms have been arranged to offer maximum flexibility. Three rooms are king-size doubles; one is a quadruple bunk room; another is set with three single beds; and there is a family bunk room that sleeps up to six. The remaining seven bedrooms can all be configured either as super-king doubles or as twins, and in some cases even as triples. All but the two bunk bedrooms have either an ensuite bathroom or a wash-hand basin, and the house includes four additional bathrooms and two separate WCs. There is plenty to keep adults, teenagers, and children active on the 22 acres estate, including a tennis court, a football pitch, a sunken trampoline, a range of bicycles, and acres of woodland to explore. Ormidale, in Glendaruel on the Cowal peninsula, is a stunningly beautiful coastal area with wooded hills, beaches, lochs, islands and open countryside. The location is perfect for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities or just exploring the wild natural landscape, but still gives easy access to the nearby historic towns of Dunoon, Rothesay, and Inverary. Loch Lomond is a stunning 35 minute drive away. The adjacent village of Colintraive provides quick ferry access to the Isle of Bute, while the ferries from Portavadie will take you across to Tarbert, the Mull of Kintyre, Campbeltown and the islands beyond.

Welcome to Garden Cottage, a charmingly renovated stone cottage laid out in a single, accessible ground-floor layout designed for family comfort and flexibility. Guests can enjoy straightforward access, a practical layout, and all the leisure facilities of the estate including a games cottage, tennis court and football pitch. The entire cottage and has been designed to be as accessible as possible for guests with limited mobility. It is often booked for just two adults, but we do allow parties of up to six or even eight. There is one main bedroom sleeping three and two additional box-style alcove areas (one off the bed-sitting room and one opposite the bathroom), plus a sofabed as well. For comfort, maximum adult occupancy is normally set at four. The bathroom sits between the living room and bedroom where you will find a wheel-chair accessible wet / shower room. There is plenty to keep adults, teenagers, and children active on the estate, with the games cottage featuring table tennis and pool tables, plus a dart board, and you’ll also find a sunken trampoline, a range of bicycles, and acres of woodland to explore, as well the tennis court and football pitch. It can also be booked on its own, though it should be noted that it only has a fairly small dedicated private garden space, and that Wi-Fi reception can be patchy indoors. The cottage relies on Wi-Fi signals from the other houses or mobile networks, so if you depend on reliable streaming for work, this may not be the best fit. The Barn is a warm and welcoming property ideal for large get-togethers. A travertine marble floor runs throughout the ground floor and offers a stunning contrast to the original exposed stone walls in the kitchen and living area.An underfloor heating system from an environmentally sustainable ground source heat pump provides constant heating through both floors of the property. This house will accommodate 14 guests in total, with the maximum adult occupancy set at 12. A sofa bed in the play room can accommodate a further two guests.A river runs through the grounds. Facilities include a tennis court (this can be privatised for certain hours in the day). Two other properties are located within the estate but both are entirely independent so your group will have complete privacy. The Kyles of Bute are renowned with both walkers and sailors as among the most stunning bits of coast in Scotland. Whatever the weather in Argyll, usually remarkably mild, this is great country for site seeing, with every corner revealing a new variation on the theme of mountain, loch, valley, sky, woodland, sea, rock, and beach. The Cowal peninsula is a fabulous base for an active holiday with marvellous wildlife, numerous gardens, other tourist attractions to visit, and a variety of sporting activities. The house has grounds of 23 acres, and sits about a mile above the head of Loch Riddon, enjoying complete privacy and lovely views down the glen to the river Ruel. The Island of Bute itself is as little as 15 minutes away from the house, accessed via a ferry from Colintraive, and was a “must visit” destination long before Stella McCartney got married there or former racing driver Johnnie Dumfries moved into Mount Stuart House as the new Marquess of Bute. Inverary with its famous Jail and Castle, the seat of Clan Campbell for the last few hundred years, is only 45 minutes away, as is Loch Lomond. Dunoon is another tourist destination in its own right, and it is just under half an hour away. You can get to Glen Coe in an hour and a half; to Stirling, Oban or Fort William in under two. Loch Ness and Edinburgh are easy enough day trips – reachable in less than 2 and a half hours. As well as general site-seeing and trips to the Island of Bute, Inverary and further afield, there are a host of other activities you can undertake around Glenaruel. It is fabulous walking country, and you will be provided with twelve mountain bikes for those who want to explore on two wheels rather than four. There are some really excellent routes direct from the house, involving all sorts of terrain and levels of strain. There is a lovely 9 hole pay and play course ten minutes away above Tighnabruaich. There are five bags of golf clubs for the house and they probably won’t be too fussed about the usual rules regarding golf shoes provided you don’t arrive in jeans and carve the course up. The same applies to the almost equally spectacular nine hole course at Blairmore & Strone, half an hour away. Cowal Golf Club at Dunoon and Inellan are the 18 hole courses in the area that welcome visitors. For fishing, there are too many options to go into here, but you can spend anything from £9 per day to over £1,000 for river fishing in the area. You can fish for trout in the nearby stream for nothing or in the Lochen at the head of the river. Mackerel on a line in a boat on the Kyles is a right of passage for hundreds of West of Scotland kids every year. They swim in shoals all around these waters and there is no permit payable. It is a fabulous part of the world for water-sports of all sorts. Horse-riding, climbing, canoeing, caving, archery, quad biking, paint-balling, and clay pigeon shooting are also all available either on site or in the area.  There is a wee shop selling all the basics at the camp-site in the Glendaruel valley, about a mile walk away, beside the historic Kilmodan standing stones. You get a slightly bigger choice in the Spar at Tighnabruich five miles away. Dunoon is 16 miles away and is a thriving market / harbour town with award-winning bakeries, cafes and butchers, as well as a big Co-Op and a big Somerfield supermarket. Scotland is not really well served by pubs in general; this area is definitely an exception. The Colintraive Hotel and Tighnabruich Hotel have fairly ambitious menus. Chatters in Dunoon is highly recommended, and the Whistlefield and Coylet Inns on Loch Eck are also worth a visit. Less than half an hour away from the house is a wonderful restaurant on Loch Fyne, overlooking the old Castle Lachlan. The Benmore Gardens tea room is not half bad, either, and the Otterferry Inn and Loch Fyne Oyster Bar have good reputations (on which, it might be said, they trade slightly). All in all, though, there are few areas of Scotland where you can enjoy such a variety of excellent, reasonably priced menus. For any keen golfers, Kyles of Bute Golf Course is less than 5-minute drive away. The house is ideal for reunions, Glasgow Airport is just a 2 hour drive away. Driving to Parsons House is almost as stunning and beautiful as the house itself and one which you should take time to enjoy. The house is in the beautiful village of Tighnabruaich (pronounced Tie-nah-broo-uckh – something to all practice in the car on the way!). It sits on the shorefront of the Kyles of Bute which is acclaimed to be an area of outstanding natural beauty, less than 2 hours West of Glasgow – depending on how often you stop to take photographs!   You can choose to drive to around the bonny banks of Loch Lomond, over the famous ‘Rest and be Thankful’ mountain pass, around the head of Loch Long and along the eastern shore of Loch Fyne (75 miles). Or you might prefer to take the car ferry (no need to book) from Gourock to Dunoon and drive past the Holy Loch, the dam at Loch Tarsan and around the head of Loch Striven.
