There are two ferries to Dunoon, gateway to the forest of Argyll, the car ferry can be boarded from McInroy’s Point, Gourock and will take you to Hunters Quay, just outside of Dunoon. If you do not require a car the Argyll passenger ferry can be taken from the ferry terminal next to Gourock railway station and this would take you straight to Dunoon town centre. Another lovely ferry trip is the little Kilcreggan passenger ferry from Gourock terminal – it only takes 15 minutes and is a very reasonably priced boat trip http://www.spt.co.uk/kilcreggan-ferry/ You can even set sail for Arran by ferry if you head 20 miles down the coast to Ardrossan, a drive of around 40 minutes by car from the apartment but well worth the trip.
