Just north of town is the picturesque landmark of Heceta Head Lighthouse at Devil’s Elbow State Park, and the nearby Sea Lion Caves are a must if you’re traveling with youngsters or animal lovers.
The bit of dunes you see across the river stretches into the expansive Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.
