Dory Haven
Affectionately known as Dory Haven, this newly renovated cove-front cottage features tasteful New England decor, high ceilings, a screened porch, and a sunroom boasting an abundance of windows and waterfront views. In a prime locale, you’ll have close access to the area’s natural wonders. Traverse the coastal woodlands of Acadia National Park, or hike local peaks like Champlain Mountain and The Beehive. For explorations nearby, Bartlett’s Landing and Long Pond can be reached in no time.
Relax in the spacious living room, furnished with two sofas, armchairs, and a gas fireplace. Pick your favorite film from the vast array of DVDs and have a movie night on the 31-inch TV. An adjacent sunroom boasts a sofa and rocking chair, as well as a dining table. Whip up tasty vacation meals in the open kitchen, outfitted with new appliances, granite countertops, and all the kitchenware needed. Enjoy morning coffee at the two-person breakfast nook. Gather in the sunroom at the unique live-edge wooden dining table for six and take in beautiful views of the waterfront backyard.
The whole family will enjoy the expansive grassy backyard. Roast s’mores over the fire pit or go for a swim in the refreshing waters. Please note that the waterfront is tidal, meaning at certain times of the day, there is no water. However, during high tide, the water is perfect for swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife, including seals, otters, and Maine seabirds. End your day with drinks on the deck, with seating for two. Sizzle dinner on the grill, then head to the lower-level screened porch to enjoy an alfresco dinner at the picnic table. This area also offers a two-person table, ideal for a quiet moment at the end of an activity-filled day.
For nearby excursions, launch a kayak from Bartlett’s Landing, which also serves as a wonderful spot to catch a sunset. Or head to Long Pond, a nearly 4-mile long, glacial lake. Drive 15 minutes to Acadia National Park. Spend your time exploring the woodlands, breathing in the salty air on the rocky shores, and watching for local wildlife. Explore the coastal town of Bar Harbor, just a 25-minute drive from your home. Indulge in local cuisine, shop the boutiques, or charter a boat to explore the deep blue sea.
