This suite is part of a three unit complex called the Lotus Mountain Suites. The complex has a rich history in Ouray dating back to the 1800’s. Originally constructed in 1899 as the "OK Stables”, the complex its located adjacent to the iconic red barn, formerly the "Ouray Livery Stables", whose current location is directly across the street from the the present day Lotus Mountain Suites location. The "OK Stables" were a mainstay livery that provided accommodations for Ouray’s earliest travelers -- horsemen, gold seekers, gunslingers, and the like. The OK Stables were dismantled around the early turn of the century when they were moved and reconstructed across the street in their present day location. During your stay you may encounter several relics indicative of the suites’ rich history.
The suite can be rented individually or the Lotus Mountain Complex can be rented all together.
We are taking appropriate steps to prepare for your stay, and have asked all housekeepers to adhere to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance relative to cleaning and disinfecting.
In addition to our regular rigorous cleaning regimen, they are following housekeeping best practices, paying close attention to high touch surfaces, and using the EPA-approved disinfectants for
hard (non-porous) surfaces, soft (porous) surfaces, and electronics. Linens, towels, bedsheets, etc. are washed per the manufacturer’s guidelines. We are also minimizing person-to-person contact from check-in through departure. One of the ways we’re doing this is through no-contact guest access via our keyless entry system. About the area
Ouray, Colorado, often referred to as the "Switzerland of America," is a destination that captivates with its stunning natural beauty and charming small-town ambiance. Nestled in the San Juan Mountains of the Colorado Rockies, Ouray is surrounded by rugged canyons and towering peaks, offering a picturesque setting that's perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil retreat.
The town's most famous attraction is the Ouray Hot Springs Pool, where visitors can soak in the therapeutic, mineral-rich waters with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The hot springs are open year-round, providing a soothing escape no matter the season.
Adventure seekers will find a paradise in Ouray, with its endless opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and off-roading. The town serves as a gateway to the San Juan Skyway, a scenic byway that offers some of the most breathtaking drives in the country. In the winter, Ouray transforms into an ice-climbing mecca, with the Ouray Ice Park offering world-class ice climbing within walking distance from downtown.
For those interested in history, Ouray does not disappoint. The town's rich mining heritage is on display at the Ouray County Museum, housed in the former St. Joseph's Miners' Hospital. The museum's exhibits provide a glimpse into the area's past, from the Ute Native Americans to the gold and silver boom days.
Ouray's Main Street is lined with Victorian-era buildings that now host a variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants. The town's architecture is a testament to its historic charm, and visitors can enjoy browsing local boutiques or dining in establishments that offer both local and international cuisine.
The Box Canyon Falls Park is another natural wonder that should not be missed. Here, visitors can witness the power of water as it roars through a narrow quartzite canyon, creating a dramatic waterfall. The park offers trails and viewing platforms for an up-close experience of this natural spectacle.
For a more leisurely activity, the Ouray Perimeter Trail provides a relatively easy hike that circles the town, offering stunning vistas and access to several other trails and landmarks, including the famous Bear Creek Falls.
