A meticulously restored Pacific Grove cottage offers peace, quiet and privacy in a tree-lined neighborhood that is within walking distance of parks, the Monterey Bay Recreation Trail, and downtown restaurants and attractions.
The 2-bedroom, 1-bath 850-square-foot home, built in 1923, has been remodeled to keep all of its historic charm while adding modern conveniences and a beautifully landscaped yard. Among the many charming features are vintage shutters, plaster walls, an original Carmel stone fireplace, vaulted ceilings, and large windows that let in generous natural light. The coastal/eclectic interiors reflect the nearby beaches in soothing tones of white, driftwood and blue.
The home is just a quick half-mile walk from downtown Pacific Grove or to the bay and Recreation Trail; it’s also close to wooded trails throughout dog-friendly Washington Park and nearby 17 Mile Drive and Pebble Beach. Other nearby attractions such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row are about 5-10 minutes away by car, and shopping and dining in Carmel-by-the-Sea are within 15 minutes.
The landscaped front yard features native grasses, rosemary and succulents with a backdrop of California live oaks. Inside, the living room features a unique artisan-made iron chandelier, hardwood plank flooring, and cozy seating around a Carmel stone fireplace with gas log that will become the focal point of family gathering, games and conversation.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complimentary cheese and wine or sparkling cider, and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, spa robes, and beach gear with everything you need for a day at the beach including chairs, blankets, towels, umbrella and cooler.
Open access to the kitchen creates a great-room feeling throughout the living space. Limestone countertops, Edison bulb light fixtures, vintage-style white cabinetry and hardwood plank flooring, in addition to stainless steel appliances that include a Bosch self-cleaning gas range and convection oven, and a Bosch dishwasher that matches the cabinetry. Seating for two is available at a glass-topped bistro table. A table in the living room area can be expanded to accommodate dining for four along with four folding chairs.
Access to the back yard through the kitchen makes it simple to organize afternoon barbecues. A propane grill is available on the back patio in addition to comfortable seating, making this a perfect spot to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. The front patio has additional outdoor seating.
The master bedroom features a king-sized bed with foam topper or two twin beds, with a second bedroom offering a queen bed, both with coastal décor in blues, grays and white. The second bedroom includes an HDTV. A newly remodeled hall bathroom features a tub/shower combo with custom tile, a tile vanity, and large mirror.
The home offers central heating and a stacked washer and gas dryer in a kitchen cabinet. A one-car detached garage is available as well as off-street parking for two cars in the driveway. Well-behaved dogs are welcome upon owner approval. The house is located near dog-friendly Washington Park.
