This lovely Victorian home in Pacific Grove harkens back to Monterey Bay’s past as a shipping and fishing port, with vintage nautical touches and coastal artifacts that will make guests feel as though they’ve stepped back in time.
At the same time, the 4-bedroom, 2-bath home has been extensively remodeled with modern conveniences and a spacious yard that’s perfect for outdoor relaxation.
Its location is also ideal for enjoying the wonders of Pacific Grove — it’s just a few steps from shopping and dining in the quaint downtown, or a 10-minute walk to the beach or to the butterfly groves. It’s also only 5 minutes by car to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row, 10 minutes to shopping in Carmel-by-the-Sea, and 15 minutes to golf and fine dining in Pebble Beach®.
Windows and skylights throughout the home bring in warm natural light as well as offering great views of Monterey Bay from the upper story.
The 1,400-square-foot two-story home, built in 1890, has been completely refurbished for guests’ comfort, with a nautical color scheme in reds, blues and tans, vintage furniture, a window seat in the front room’s bay window, a fully equipped kitchen and a backyard fenced for privacy, which includes a hand-laid flagstone patio.
The pet-friendly home features a cozy front room with a gas fireplace featuring hand painted tile, where games and books will keep guests entertained on evenings around the fire. A 50-inch HDTV is available over the fireplace, and an adjacent sitting area with chaise lounge and console table is another place to curl up with a good book.
The large dining room table seats 8 on slip-covered parson’s chairs, and the updated kitchen includes taupe tile floors, quartz composite counter tops, new appliances that include a gas range, and a deep porcelain farmhouse sink with gooseneck faucet.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms Bedroom #1 with a queen bed is located downstairs, is decorated in the same vintage nautical theme, and the nearby bathroom on this level has a large custom-tiled shower in ocean colors as well as an adjustable shower head.
The second floor features three bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as a children’s play area with beanbag chairs and a TV with DVD player. Bedroom #2 has a California king bed, Bedroom #3 has two twin beds and Bedroom #4 has one twin bed. The bathroom on this upper level features vintage tile floors and a pedestal sink as well as an old-fashioned clawfoot bathtub to which an adjustable shower head has been added.
The side yard contains a small seating area and a fire pit perfect for quiet chats at twilight. AN IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THE YARD: Guests are asked to keep voices at a respectful volume at all times (conversations should not be heard outside the property line) and to bring all outdoor conversations/activities INSIDE by 8pm due to the close proximity of nearby neighbors who are sensitive to noise.
