Hidden among the trees, Weathering Heights invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and settle into the rhythm of the High Country. This stunning cabin blends rustic charm with modern comfort, all just 15 minutes from Boone and Banner Elk and 20 minutes from Blowing Rock. From Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and Tweetsie Railroad to Grandfather Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway, adventure is always within easy reach.
Inside the main cabin, you’re welcomed by a warm, light-filled great room with soaring vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. Rich wood interiors and skylights create a cozy yet airy atmosphere, while plush leather seating surrounds a stacked-stone gas fireplace and mounted TV—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The spacious kitchen is designed for gathering, featuring high-end stainless appliances, a gas stove and oven built into the center island, and counter space for everything from simple breakfasts to holiday feasts. Share meals at the dining table, or step outside to the expansive wraparound deck where multiple seating areas invite you to sip morning coffee or relax under the stars. Fire up the gas grill, dine together at the large outdoor table for ten, or gather around the stunning stacked-stone wood-burning fireplace. End the evening soaking in the hot tub, surrounded by peaceful woodland views.
Above the detached garage, the game room offers a space all its own—ideal for friendly competition and laid-back fun. With a pool table, shuffleboard, electric fireplace, TV, high-top table, and a generous selection of board games, it’s a favorite hangout for guests of all ages. A cozy loft nook with a bean bag chair and bookshelf creates a quiet hideaway for young readers. The game room also provides additional sleeping accommodations, including a queen-size daybed, a queen-size sleeper sofa, and a full bathroom—perfect for those wanting to be apart.
On the main level, the king primary suite offers a restful retreat complete with a private bath and TV. Upstairs, a second king bedroom and a thoughtfully designed bunk room featuring a twin-over-queen bunk, twin trundle each offer a private TV for a personal relaxation. A loft nook with a twin-over-twin bunk and privacy curtain adds even more flexibility. These rooms share a full bath on the upper level.
With room to comfortably host up to 14 guests, Weathering Heights is more than a place to stay—it’s where mountain mornings, fireside evenings, and unforgettable memories come together.
Additional Notes:
- This home allows up to 2 mature and well behaved dogs with a pet rent of $25 per pet per night.
- Firewood may be purchased at the time of booking or with a week’s notice. Guests will receive two wrapped, kiln-dried bundles and a fire starter for $25 plus tax per night.
- All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, a couple garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers.
- Towels and linens will be provided for you.
- Parking may accommodate up to 4 or 5 vehicles with some maneuvering.
- 4WD/AWD and/or chains required during times of snow/ice- it is your responsibility to come prepared for winter weather. No refunds are given if you are not prepared for winter weather.
- Please note that the distances shown on OTA’s map feature are measured in a straight line rather than actual road travel distances and times. We cannot change their setting for this, and encourage all guests to independently verify distances to desired destinations.
CANCELLATION POLICY -
Bookings canceled 30+ days before arrival will receive a refund of the deposit.
Bookings canceled between 15-29 days before arrival will receive a refund of half of the deposit.
Bookings canceled within 14 days of arrival are not entitled to a refund unless the reservation dates are rebooked to another guest.
All bookings are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

Boone, North Carolina, is a delightful mountain town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This town, which carries the name of the renowned pioneer Daniel Boone, offers a plethora of experiences for its visitors.
Nature lovers will find Boone an outdoor paradise. The surrounding mountains are laced with a variety of hiking trails that cater to all levels of hikers - from leisurely strolls to more strenuous climbs. Although not directly passing through Boone, the Blue Ridge Parkway - often dubbed as "America's Favorite Drive" - is in close proximity and provides breathtaking scenic views. These views become particularly spectacular during autumn when the leaves transform into vibrant hues.
History and culture enthusiasts have plenty to explore in Boone as well. The Hickory Ridge Living History Museum offers an immersive experience into 18th-century life with its historical structures and live demonstrations. While not located directly in Boone, but rather in nearby Blowing Rock, The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts is worth a visit for its display of contemporary art from both local and international artists.
