Location:
Biokovo Nature Park in the village of Zupa is one of Croatia’s most popular hiking destinations and is also home to the second highest mountain range in the country. Offering some of the most beautiful views in the whole of Dalmatia, if you’re holidaying in this area, you really must take advantage of some of the walking and cycling trails that are available
One of the best ways to enjoy this incredible landscape is by visiting the Skywalk; a see-through viewing platform 1228 metres above sea level that extends 12 metres out from the mountain side and give the illusion of floating in mid air - even some of the most hardcore thrillseekers have been known to grip the handrail when they look down!
Villa Raffo is situated just 20 minutes from the Makarska Riviera, so when you’ve had enough of basking in the sun, swimming in your own private pool, or hiking through the glorious Croatian countryside, why not head out and see what other delights this region has to offer. In the city of Makarska itself you’ll find open-air restaurants and cafes aplenty, as well as a daily market selling fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables...and you’ll be able to take a stroll along the harbour, and maybe even book a boat trip to the island of Hvar or to the famous Zlatni Rat beach on the island of Brac.
If you decide to keep your feet on the terra firma, you will find plenty to do here - Makarska has its own pebble beach, backed by fragrant pines and overlooking the glittering turquoise sea, as well as a promenade where you’ll find plenty more restaurants, cafes and ice-cream parlours. For those wanting to do more than just relax, stroll, and eat, there’s plenty of activities available such as banana boat rides, or jet-skis and paddle boats for hire. Makarska offers a chilled out vibe throughout the day and into the night, with places such as the Buba beach bar. Nestled in a quiet bay with its straw umbrellas and wooden sunbeds, you can enjoy a quiet morning here before the livelier afternoon rolls around with its DJ music and cocktails, and then gives way to after-dark concerts and electronic dance music.

It is most famous for the Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) beach, a unique natural wonder whose fine pebble promontory shifts with the tides and winds, creating a distinctive shape that is recognized around the world.
The clear turquoise waters of the Adriatic make Bol a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Windsurfing, kite surfing, and stand-up paddleboarding are popular activities, thanks to the favorable winds and excellent facilities. Diving is also a must-do, with the island's underwater world teeming with marine life and offering fascinating dive sites, including shipwrecks and caves.
Bol's heritage is rich and well-preserved, with the Dominican monastery, founded in the 15th century, being a highlight. The monastery houses a museum with religious art, ancient manuscripts, and a renowned collection of prehistoric items found on the island. Strolling through the town's narrow streets, visitors will encounter charming stone houses, small squares, and local shops that exude a Mediterranean ambiance.
The town is also a gateway to exploring the rest of Brač, which boasts olive groves, vineyards, and the Vidova Gora, the highest peak of all the Croatian islands. From this vantage point, one can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and surrounding islands. For those interested in cultural experiences, Bol hosts several summer festivals featuring music, dance, and local traditions, providing a glimpse into the island's vibrant community life.

For a more secluded experience, visitors can take a short boat trip to the nearby Paklina Islands, a group of islets with hidden coves and crystal-clear waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling away from the crowds.
