Established in 1097 and home to the Tempest family for over nine hundred years, the estate is now known as Broughton Sanctuary, a regenerative space rooted in wellbeing, nature and sustainability. Broughton Hall itself sleeps up to thirty-two guests across seventeen lavish bedrooms, with additional cottages available across the estate for larger groups. Rich in history and surrounded by outstanding natural beauty, Skipton is known for its impressive medieval castle, romantic priory ruins and charming cobbled High Street lined with independent shops, cafés and traditional pubs. The town’s historic streets, waterways and woodland walks are connected by the popular Millennium Walk route, making it a wonderful place to explore at a relaxed pace. The beautiful Bolton Abbey Estate is also close by, famous for its riverside priory ruins, scenic picnic spots and iconic stepping stones across the River Wharfe. Walkers will love exploring the Yorkshire Dales, including the Valley of Desolation, Barden Fell and Simon’s Seat, where panoramic views stretch for miles. Strid Wood offers peaceful riverside trails filled with bluebells, wild garlic and wildlife including otters and kingfishers. Nearby attractions also include the stunning Parcevall Hall Gardens and the historic city of York, where visitors can enjoy excellent shopping, acclaimed restaurants and famous landmarks including York Minster and the city’s medieval walls.
