Home details
Property Manager is proud to present "Emery Board"! This home sleeps up to 4 guests.
Come enjoy a slice of Carmel-by-the-Sea’s rich artistic history! This adorable 1,450 sf, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage was the former residence of American portrait and landscape artist Leslie Emery (1912-1998) who joined the Carmel Art Association in 1946. With incredible walk-ability to town and the beach, this south of Ocean Ave. cottage exudes a style and warmth one would expect from those who devote their lives to the aesthetic arts.
Located in the heart of the “Golden Rectangle” which is still called “home” by many artists, writers, and poets alike, this quaint seaside haven will not disappoint.
Living Space
From the exterior, guests enter the property through an ivy covered fence into an English country garden and welcoming stone patio. Through the Dutch front door sits a cozy living room with vaulted open beam ceiling, board and batten walls, bay window, carpet, ample seating with sofa sleeper, wood burning brick fireplace, and fine examples of Emery’s works.
The separate family room has another wood burning fireplace with gas starter and a sectional sofa. Flat screen Smart TV is equipped with Hulu+, Disney, and ESPN (no standard cable). The windows near the upper peak of the vaulted ceiling looking out into the tree canopy are stunning.
Outside
Off the primary bedroom and the family room is the incredibly private and spacious backyard with brick patio (gas BBQ, glass top wicker table with seating for 4, and wicker settee) and succulent garden which is perfect for entertaining a small group or enjoying the Carmel sunshine.
Kitchen and Dining
A galley kitchen with wood-like flooring, tile countertops and gas range separate the formal living room with the dining area. Dining area has beautiful skylights and seating for 6 in addition to banquette seating along the southern wall.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Up a few steps from the family room is Bedroom #1 with a king bed, flat screen TV (streaming, no cable), bay window seating, a walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom with a standing shower.
Bedroom #2 has a queen bed, bay window seating and its own en suite bathroom with a shower-over-tub combination.
Both bedrooms have direct access to the back patio/garden via Dutch doors.
Stacked washer and dryer are located off the kitchen.
Off-street parking for one vehicle and street parking is available on a first come, first served basis.
