Perfect for kayaking and paddleboarding, the cove is home to Caymans Bioluminescence Bay. Experience the beautiful glowing waters on moonless nights.
The big draw to this neighborhood is its proximity to the restaurants and water sports at Rum Point Beach. Guests can easily stroll across the street for a barefoot beach experience with snorkeling and shaded hammocks. The new Rum Point Club Resort (with bar & restaurant) is also only a short walk.
Finally, a short bike ride south on Water Cay Road is where youll find the Kaibo, a luxe beach dining destination, and marina. The Kaibo serves lunch and dinner along with a coffee bar for lattes and breakfast items.

***Beach Notes***
The Island Houses enjoy a private sandy beach for everything from building sand castles to launching kayaks or trying ones hand at paddleboarding. The waters here are shallow with a soft bottom; perfect for kayaking and paddleboarding, but not ideal for swimming or snorkeling. For a barefoot beach experience with great food and a unique vibe, head across the street to Rum Point Beach (temporarily closed, reopening in late 2022).
Rum Point Beach offers a spectacular white sandy beachfront with vibrant snorkeling, shaded hammocks, watersports, charter excursions, two restaurants, and a beach bar. Chaises are plentiful on a first-come, first-served basis.
South of Rum Point Beach you will find The Kaibo, a local beach club and marina. The Kaibo consists of a coffee shop and two restaurants, a beach bar and grill on the lower level along with a fine dining restaurant upstairs. Live music, beach barbecues, and full moon parties are highlights at Kaibo.
From the Kaibo Marina, hop on the Cayman Ferry for a day trip across the sound to the shops and restaurants at Camana Bay and Seven Mile Beach.
***Ocean Debris & Sargassum Seaweed***
Beaches in Grand Cayman may also experience floating ocean debris and sargassum seasonally. Sargassum is a harmless floating seaweed that has increased in frequency in recent years.
Sargassum RARELY is an issue at the Island Houses.

About the area
Rum Point, located on the picturesque northern coast of Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands, is a slice of tropical paradise that beckons travelers with its laid-back charm and natural beauty. Known for its crystal-clear waters, soft white sands, and an atmosphere that encourages relaxation, Rum Point is the perfect escape for those looking to unwind and soak up the Caribbean sun.
One of the main attractions at Rum Point is the shallow, calm water that makes it an ideal spot for swimming and snorkeling. The vibrant coral reefs just offshore are teeming with marine life, offering snorkelers and divers the chance to encounter a variety of colorful fish, sea turtles, and other aquatic creatures. The area is also famous for its bioluminescent bay, where visitors can take a nighttime kayak tour to witness the magical glow of tiny organisms in the water.
For those who prefer to stay on land, the iconic Rum Point Club is a must-visit. With its hammocks strung between palm trees and signature mudslide cocktails, the club provides a quintessential Caribbean experience. The beachfront bar and restaurant serve up delicious local cuisine, including fresh seafood, while offering stunning views of the sea.
Adventure seekers can take advantage of the many water sports available at Rum Point, such as jet skiing, stand-up paddleboarding, and sailing. The nearby Stingray City is another popular excursion, where visitors can stand in shallow water and interact with friendly southern stingrays.
Despite its array of activities, Rum Point maintains a tranquil atmosphere, far removed from the bustle of Grand Cayman's more tourist-heavy spots like Seven Mile Beach. It's a place where time seems to slow down, allowing visitors to truly relax and enjoy the natural splendor of the Cayman Islands.
For a complete island experience, travelers can explore the nearby Starfish Point, a secluded beach where starfish dot the shallow waters, or take a scenic drive through the island's lush interior to discover hidden gems and local wildlife.
In essence, Rum Point offers a blend of relaxation, adventure, and authentic Caribbean culture, making it an idyllic destination for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. Whether you're basking in the sun on its serene beaches, exploring the underwater wonders, or simply enjoying the local hospitality, Rum Point promises a memorable and rejuvenating getaway.
