Location:
Your villa is located on Korcula Island, an area of the world considered to be one of the top travel destinations. That’s quite a tall order. The island itself is an interesting combination of dramatic nature, including striking beaches, dense forests and beautiful islands but also a hotbed of rich cultural heritage. Korcula town is where you’ll find medieval squares, churches, palaces and the birthplace of Marco Polo.
You must sample the special wines of the area – this is one of the best vine regions in Croatia alongside the Peljesac peninsula as a whole. The old town is peppered with Michelin dining should you wish to pamper yourself and your party.
As a brand-new designer abode, built directly by the sea on the south side of Korcula Island, this villa offers phenomenal views of the Adriatic Sea – you can see Lastovo Island in the distance.
This property is ideal for those who wish to feel ensconced in nature. You’re surrounded by various hiking and cycling paths. Anyone who is familiar with Croatia will know that there is a wealth of wonders to explore by water. You can take a stand up paddle board and snorkel and explore what lies beneath the many islands around you. There’s also the opportunity to do something wonderfully daring; you can scuba dive and become a certified diver. Above the waves, you might like to ride a jet ski or take a boat out with the skipper – this can be booked on demand, so make sure you make sure of it.
If you’re longing for a day trip, and why wouldn’t you be, when there is so much to see in Croatia, you can take a day trip to many wonderful islands including Lastovo, Mljet, Vis and Hvar.
Let’s start with Lastovo. This is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the Adriatic Sea. If you want to feel like an explorer, you will certainly feel like you’ve stumbled across something unique and new here as if you’ve turned back the hands of time. Lastovo itself lays across a series of steep banks over a natural amphitheatre which overlooks fertile field land which faces away from the sea. This makes it quite different from many of its island neighbours, who make the sea the central point.
Lastovo is a forested island – about 60% of it is covered. For wildlife lovers, you may see nests of falcons and hawks who patrol the area seeking food. If you want to snorkel, this is a great place to do so. This is one of the best spots for underwater sight-seeing. You might observe lobsters, crayfish, octopus, John Dory and Groupers.
Now on to Mljet, truly a fantastic paradise. Here you’ll find a national park, the splendid Soline Bay and a vast sea belt. Seeking nature? Mljet will transfix you.
Vis is a gorgeous beauty with nature that will astonish. It’s also home to Vis Town, where you can see the remains of the old city walls and public bath. The archaeological museum here is a great find for those interested in exploring the history of Roman artefacts.
Finally, Hvar is known as the life and soul, being both a port and resort town. In summer, you simply must see the yachts filling its harbour. You’ll also find pristine secluded beaches, intriguing rocky coves and lush pine forests. If you’re seeking some raucous nightlife or a drink or two at a bar, seek out Hula Beach – it’s lively and full of fun.

About the area
Korčula, an enchanting island located off the southern coast of Croatia in the Adriatic Sea, is a captivating destination that offers a rich blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Known for its dense forests, hence the Greek name Korkyra Melaina meaning "Black Corfu," Korčula is a verdant oasis that beckons travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure.
The island's crowning jewel is Korčula Town, often referred to as "Little Dubrovnik" due to its medieval squares, churches, palaces, and stone houses, all encased within formidable defensive walls. The town's layout is a herringbone pattern, which was designed to reduce the effects of wind and sun, showcasing the ingenuity of past urban planners. Visitors can wander through the narrow streets, discovering hidden treasures and glimpses of its storied past at every turn.
Korčula is also reputed to be the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo, and history enthusiasts can explore the Marco Polo House, believed to be his ancestral home. The town's Marco Polo Museum adds an interactive dimension to his life and journeys, making it a fascinating stop for all ages.
The island's cultural heritage is further celebrated through traditional music and dance, with the Moreška Sword Dance being a particular highlight. This chivalrous dance, performed by local men, is a dramatic representation of the battles between the Moors and Christians and is a spectacle not to be missed.
For those drawn to the allure of the sea, Korčula's indented coastline offers secluded beaches, quiet coves, and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and sailing. The nearby archipelago of small islets is ideal for day trips and exploration, providing a serene escape from the everyday.
Korčula's vineyards produce some of Croatia's finest wines, such as the white Pošip and Grk, which are best enjoyed at a local konoba (tavern) alongside fresh seafood and traditional Croatian dishes. The island's gastronomy is a delightful journey through the flavors of the Mediterranean, with olive oil, herbs, and local produce featuring prominently.
Active travelers can take advantage of the island's scenic landscapes by hiking or cycling through its lush countryside, offering panoramic views and a chance to connect with nature. The island's mild climate makes outdoor activities pleasant throughout much of the year.
In essence, Korčula is a microcosm of Croatian allure, offering a harmonious blend of history, culture, and the great outdoors. Its timeless charm and scenic beauty make it a destination that truly captures the heart of the Mediterranean.
