Chapel Cottage, Ellicombe

Chapel Cottage is a romantic, character-filled retreat tucked just off the lane, sleeping up to 4 guests in one double bedroom with en-suite shower room, plus a comfortable double sofa bed in the sitting room. The cosy sitting room opens directly onto a private, secure south-facing garden with sun loungers, ideal for relaxing outdoors, and the original 16th-century chapel door remains as a charming historical feature. A spiral staircase (meaning the cottage is not suitable for young children under 11 or those with limited mobility) leads up to the bright master bedroom. The spacious kitchen has a dining table and overlooks the Manor’s lawn. Guests enjoy shared use of an acre of sub-tropical gardens and a two-acre paddock with views over the West Somerset Steam Railway and across the Bristol Channel to Wales, along with a heated outdoor swimming pool (heated May to mid-September, available for cold-water swimming the rest of the year), a sauna and ice-bath, a Kadai fire-pit, a swing set, a picnic bench and a giant chess set. Resident Shetland ponies, sheep and goats can be visited, with animal feed provided. Off-road parking is available in front of the cottage. The property includes a Smart TV and digital radio, an electric cooker, a Nespresso coffee machine with pods, a microwave and a fridge freezer. Wifi, heating and electricity are included, along with bed linen, towels (including bath sheets), complimentary green toiletries, local tea, coffee and hot chocolate, basic store cupboard items, cleaning materials and a welcome pint of milk. Dogs are welcome, with a maximum of two per cottage (three small dogs may be considered by prior arrangement), at a supplement of GBP 20 per dog. Dog towels, bowls, blankets, poo bags and treats are all provided, along with an outside tap for washing off muddy paws and dog cages available to borrow.
