Desert Bloom is a contemporary Joshua Tree retreat where clean-lined architecture meets wide desert views. Spend afternoons cooling off in the seasonal cowboy tub, gather around the fire pit on the covered patio, and slip into the hot tub beneath the stars. With two inviting bedrooms, beautiful indoor-outdoor living, and easy access to Joshua Tree National Park, it’s a wonderful home base for two couples or a quiet desert escape.
Designed by Wolfgang and Connie Pichler, Desert Bloom brings a fresh architectural perspective to its Joshua Tree surroundings. White stucco walls, warm coral arches, polished concrete floors, and expansive glass doors create a home that feels both playful and wonderfully understated. The open layout draws you naturally toward the covered patio, where comfortable lounge seating and an expansive desert backdrop make spending time outside as appealing as being indoors.
Thoughtful design extends throughout the house, from woven pendant lighting and sculptural furnishings to bedrooms that open toward the surrounding Joshua trees. Although situated in a residential neighborhood, the outdoor living spaces offer a welcome sense of privacy, while paved-road access and garage parking make coming and going refreshingly simple.

-Outdoor Amenities-
Desert Bloom was designed to make the outdoors part of everyday life. Expansive sliding glass doors connect the main living areas to a covered patio, where generous seating and a long propane fire pit create an inviting place to spend an afternoon or evening together. With Joshua trees scattered across the landscape and mountains in the distance, there’s plenty to admire without leaving the house.
The hot tub occupies its own raised deck beside the home, positioned to take advantage of the desert views. It’s an especially lovely place to unwind after exploring Joshua Tree National Park or to enjoy the quiet once the sun disappears behind the mountains. During warmer months, the adjacent cowboy tub offers a refreshing way to cool down, with an outdoor shower nearby for rinsing off.
A separate outdoor dining area and propane BBQ make meals outside easy, whether you’re grilling lunch between outings or settling in for dinner under the covered patio. There’s also room to play cornhole or stretch out with one of the provided yoga mats.
The property maintains an open connection to the surrounding desert and is not fully fenced. The cowboy tub is drained and unavailable from November through March.
-Living Area-
The living room has a relaxed, contemporary feel, with a generous dark sectional, understated furnishings, and a wall of glass that brings the outdoor landscape into view. White walls and polished concrete floors keep the space light and airy, while carefully chosen accents add warmth without distracting from the scenery.
During the day, slide open the glass doors to let conversations flow between the living room and patio. In the evening, settle onto the sectional for a movie on the smart TV or enjoy a quieter night inside after dinner outdoors.
The open floor plan connects the living room directly to the dining area and kitchen, making it easy for everyone to spend time together without feeling crowded.
-Kitchen and Dining-
The kitchen is as attractive as it is practical, with white countertops, dark cabinetry, open shelving, and three woven pendant lights suspended above the generous island. Three bar stools provide a casual spot for breakfast, coffee, or keeping someone company while dinner comes together.
The kitchen is equipped with the essentials for preparing meals at home, including a stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker. Its open layout makes cooking feel like part of the gathering rather than an activity tucked away in a separate room.
Just beyond the island, a dining table seats six beneath a statement pendant light. Coral-colored architectural arches and a full-length mirror lend the space its distinctive personality. For meals outdoors, the adjacent patio offers another inviting option, with the BBQ conveniently nearby.
-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-
Desert Bloom has two thoughtfully appointed bedrooms, each furnished with a queen bed, along with two full bathrooms and one half bathroom. The arrangement works particularly well for two couples traveling together or a small family looking for comfortable sleeping spaces and room to spread out.
The first bedroom feels especially connected to the landscape. A soft, painted arch frames the queen bed, while a large glass door looks out toward Joshua trees and opens directly to the outdoors. Neutral bedding, warm bedside lighting, and restrained furnishings create a peaceful place to begin and end the day.
The second bedroom carries the home’s playful design language through warm coral artwork and carefully selected accents. It also has a queen bed and convenient access to a bathroom.
The bathrooms continue the home’s modern aesthetic with clean lines, round mirrors, warm wood cabinetry, and contemporary fixtures. A walk-in glass shower features textured finishes and a tiled niche, adding a considered, spa-like touch to the everyday routine.
With the desert just beyond the windows, comfortable sleeping arrangements, and inviting places to gather both inside and out, Desert Bloom makes it easy to enjoy Joshua Tree at your own pace.
-Surrounding Area-
Joshua Tree Village and Joshua Tree National Park are the easy outings from Desert Bloom, with Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown, La Copine and the Integratron for the evenings. If you plan to have dinner at Pappy & Harriet’s, we strongly recommend booking ahead.
The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.
A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.
There are no dirt roads on the way to Desert Bloom.
-Cowboy Tub-
The pool at Desert Bloom is a cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy tub is drained and unavailable for guest use during the winter months (November through March) to prevent the filter from freezing and breaking.

-Wildlife & Safety-
The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it’s important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.
