Neighborhood
Located in the hills of rich history and authentic Portuguese culture this place is truly a hidden treasure. Guests will fall in love with the rustic village atmosphere, as well as quick access to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Casa Azul - Aljezur Town brings the best of both worlds - allowing travelers to be able to enjoy activities in town, museums, hikes, surfing, social gatherings, etc. and retreat back to a comfy, adorable place to rest.
Aljezur’s guests walk to the municipal market for the best local fresh fish and products, or just to enjoy the atmosphere. On their way through the narrow old streets they pass the municipal museum, the original village church, and they cross the road that leads to the old moorish castle.
In the opposite direction, the street takes you to the road leading along the creek to Amoreira beach, one of the most beautiful in the region, with a small river running all the way to the ocean, a sandy beach with dunes and a rocky beach area with natural pools packed with ocean life.
The area has grown very popular with hikers, thanks to the Vicentina Route and the famous fishermen trail, which you can join easily from Aljezur.
Transit
You are 5 min walk from the town centre with cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, banks and tourist office and bus stop from where every days 2x a bus goes to Lisboa (only 17 euro) and more frequent busses to Lagos etc.
To explore the area you can either hike one of the trails, use a mountainbike to get around or drive around by car to see even more.

About the area
Praia da Luz, located in the Algarve region of Portugal, is a serene coastal town that beckons travelers with its picturesque landscapes, tranquil atmosphere, and friendly community. Known for its stunning beach, Praia da Luz is a haven for sun-seekers and families looking for a relaxing seaside getaway.
The town's main attraction is undoubtedly its expansive sandy beach, flanked by the iconic Rocha Negra cliff, a volcanic remnant that provides a dramatic backdrop to the azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The beach is well-equipped with sun loungers and parasols, making it an ideal spot for sunbathing, while the gentle slope of the seabed ensures safe swimming conditions, perfect for children and less confident swimmers.
Water sports enthusiasts will find plenty to keep them entertained, with opportunities for windsurfing, paddleboarding, and kayaking. The clear waters also make for excellent snorkeling and diving, with a variety of marine life to discover.
Beyond the beach, Praia da Luz offers a charming promenade lined with palm trees, where visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls and take in the sea views. The promenade is dotted with cafes, restaurants, and bars, offering a taste of the local cuisine, which is heavily influenced by the sea, featuring fresh fish and seafood dishes.
For those interested in history and culture, the town's 16th-century church, Igreja da Luz de Lagos, stands as a testament to the area's rich past. The church was partially destroyed in the 1755 earthquake but has since been restored, retaining its beautiful Manueline doorway.
Nature lovers can explore the surrounding landscape by hiking along the cliffs or venturing into the countryside to discover the region's flora and fauna. The nearby Boavista Golf & Spa Resort caters to golf enthusiasts, providing a world-class golfing experience with stunning views.
Day trips from Praia da Luz are also rewarding, with the historic town of Lagos just a short drive away, offering a larger selection of cultural attractions, including the Forte da Ponta da Bandeira and the Mercado de Escravos, Europe's first slave market.
In essence, Praia da Luz is a destination that offers a peaceful retreat with its beautiful beach, engaging activities, and proximity to cultural sites. It's a place where travelers can unwind, soak up the Portuguese sun, and enjoy the slower pace of life in this delightful corner of the Algarve.
