The BWCAW is a stunning mosaic of over a million acres of pristine waterways and forests. It's a place where you can paddle through crystal-clear lakes and rivers, portage between remote water bodies, and camp under the stars. The area's vast network of lakes and rivers is home to abundant wildlife, including moose, wolves, and the iconic North American loon, whose haunting calls echo across the water.

Both centers have live animal exhibits and interactive displays that are engaging for all ages.
The area's natural beauty can be enjoyed year-round. Summer visitors can hike countless trails, fish for walleye and northern pike, or simply relax by a campfire. Ely's downtown area adds to the town's allure with its local art galleries, unique shops, and cozy eateries that serve up hearty meals perfect for refueling after a day of exploration. The town also hosts various events and festivals throughout the year, celebrating everything from the blueberry harvest to the winter holiday season.
In essence, Ely, Minnesota, is a destination that promises a genuine escape into the wilderness.
