Chalet Igel is an Property Manager property.
The Property Manager team’s opinion –
Chalet Igel is a comfortable six-bedroom, four-bathroom chalet for 12 people, set over three floors. It’s situated just outside the Portes du Soleil ski resort of Châtel, on the road to La Chapelle d’Abondance, and with the ski bus passing just 100m away, you’ve great access to a huge choice of skiing.
If you stay in the summer, you’ll have your own private pool in July and August – just picture yourself cooling off in the water or sipping a drink on the sunbeds, as you admire the breathtaking view of the mountains!
There are four bedrooms on the top floor, two with en-suite bath or shower rooms and two others with access to the balcony. There are two more bedrooms – a bunk room and one with two single beds – on the lower ground floor, along with a games/TV room and a bath room. Older children and teenagers will be thrilled to have their own space down here, where they can watch a film or play a game of table football. You may only see them at meal times!
Chalet Igel also has a good-sized garden with a trampoline and table-tennis table – there’s so much to do here for children!
Free wifi, cleaning, towels & linen included.
Please note the swimming pool is available from end of June to mid-September.
The owner requires a €1,000 damage and excess cleaning guarantee to be set up

About the area
Champéry, nestled in the Chablais Alps in Switzerland, is a picturesque village that offers a perfect blend of traditional charm and outdoor adventure. As part of the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest ski areas in the world, Champéry is a winter sports paradise, providing access to over 600 kilometers of ski slopes that straddle the Swiss-French border.
In the winter, skiers and snowboarders of all levels can enjoy the extensive network of pistes, while those looking for alternative activities can try snowshoeing, ice climbing, or even a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride. The village's Palladium Sports Centre is a hub for indoor sports and leisure, featuring an ice rink, curling, and swimming facilities.
During the summer months, Champéry transforms into a haven for hikers, mountain bikers, and climbers. The Dents du Midi and the Dents Blanches mountain ranges provide a stunning backdrop for outdoor pursuits. The region's network of trails offers everything from gentle walks to challenging treks, including the famous Tour des Dents du Midi. Mountain bikers will find a variety of trails, from downhill courses to cross-country routes.
The village itself exudes Swiss alpine charm, with its traditional wooden chalets and bell-clad cows roaming the pastures. Visitors can explore the local heritage at the Champéry Museum or take a stroll down the main street, lined with shops, restaurants, and bakeries offering local specialties like raclette and fondue.
One of Champéry's most iconic features is the cable car that ascends to Planachaux, providing breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. From here, adventurers can access the Portes du Soleil's multitude of activities or simply enjoy the alpine serenity.
For those seeking relaxation, the thermal baths in the nearby Val-d'Illiez offer a soothing escape, with their warm, mineral-rich waters and stunning mountain vistas.
Champéry's cultural calendar is also vibrant, with events and festivals throughout the year, including the renowned Swiss National Day celebrations and the Bell Ringing Festival, which showcase Swiss traditions and local folklore.
In essence, Champéry is a destination that promises an authentic Swiss experience, combining the allure of alpine scenery with the thrill of outdoor sports and the warmth of village hospitality. Whether seeking adventure or relaxation, visitors to Champéry will find a treasure trove of experiences that make for an unforgettable stay.
