This contemporary first floor apartment with off-road parking is in the heart of town within easy reach of the shops, pubs, eateries, and wonderful independent cinema; as well as being in an ideal spot for corporate guests working at Sizewell. Accommodation is spacious with a double bedroom, large shower room, cosy living room and a kitchen/breakfast room.
The private entrance is off the high street with a little gate and path leading to the front door which opens into a hall with carpeted stairs (and handrail) rising to the first-floor landing. Doors off the landing to all four rooms and there’s hard flooring throughout with attractive rugs. We feel that, as the bed is a standard double, and the cooking facilities are limited, the flat is more suited to a single guest.
KITCHEN/BREAKFAST ROOM
A well-designed room, ideal for enjoying light meals and/or takeaways at home. There’s a table (could double up as a desk) and chairs, and kitchen units running along one wall housing an under-counter fridge (with ice compartment), a microwave, a kettle and a Nespresso machine which takes standard sized pods. Please note there isn’t an oven.
LIVING ROOM
Simple and stylish – ideal for relaxing in after a long day - furnished with a coffee table, a TV sitting on the chest of drawers, and additional storage in a wardrobe if you need it.
BEDROOM
The double bed takes pride of place between bedside drawers and there’s additional storage in a wardrobe, plus a little corner chair.
SHOWER ROOM
This modern shower room has a large shower cubicle with a hand-held electric shower, a WC, wash basin with storage beneath it, a heated towel rail (towels will be supplied), and natural light.
OUTSIDE
There’s an allocated parking space in the main gravelled driveway with a very short walk round the corner to the gate on the high street which opens to the path and door exclusively to Goldfinch. The apartment is an annex to the main house so please respect the owner in terms of noise and they will certainly respect your privacy.
Leistoin is a ’working town’ with an independent cinema, great park for kids, a leisure centre with swimming pool and gym, and it’s just a short drive to the sea at Sizewell, the magical village of Thorpeness with its boating pond; and the colourful seaside town of Aldeburgh with some great restaurants, shops etc.

About the area
Leiston, a charming town in the county of Suffolk, England, is a destination that offers a tranquil escape into the English countryside, steeped in history and surrounded by picturesque landscapes. While it may not be as well-known as some of the UK's larger cities, Leiston boasts a unique charm that makes it a worthwhile visit for those looking to explore the road less traveled.
The town's most notable historical site is the Leiston Abbey, which dates back to the 14th century. The ruins of this Premonstratensian abbey are open to the public and provide a fascinating glimpse into the past. Visitors can wander through the remains of the church, cloister, and chapter house, imagining the lives of the canons who once lived there.
For those interested in industrial heritage, the Long Shop Museum is a must-visit. Housed in a building that was part of the Richard Garrett Engineering Works, the museum showcases the town's rich history of manufacturing, including steam engines and agricultural machinery. It's an excellent place to learn about the industrial revolution and its impact on rural England.
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity of Leiston to the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This protected landscape offers miles of unspoiled coastline, heathland, and forests, perfect for hiking, birdwatching, and simply enjoying the great outdoors. Nearby RSPB Minsmere is a haven for wildlife, particularly birds, making it a popular spot for nature lovers and photographers.
For a day at the beach, the small seaside town of Aldeburgh is just a short drive away. Here, visitors can enjoy a pebble beach, fresh seafood, and the charming high street with its independent shops and galleries. Aldeburgh is also home to the internationally renowned Aldeburgh Festival, a classical music event founded by composer Benjamin Britten.
Leiston's location also makes it an ideal base for exploring other Suffolk attractions, such as the picturesque villages of the Suffolk Heritage Coast, the historic town of Framlingham with its impressive castle, and the vibrant cultural scene of Ipswich.
In essence, Leiston offers a peaceful retreat with a touch of history, nature, and culture. It's a destination that invites visitors to slow down, step back in time, and enjoy the serene beauty of the English countryside.
