The Space
A short walk up from the sandy beach is The Spinney. Everything has been thought of - whether you’re a toddler, teen, or have four legs and a tail, you’ll make some fantastic memories when you stay here.
Every window has its own spectacular view, and the interior design makes the most of every nook and cranny. There are bags of space for everyone to relax or get together for some fun and games. The open-plan modern kitchen is fully equipped to accommodate any request, and the dining area is perfect for sitting to talk about the day, making plans for the next or creating cocktails with your friends. Cosy up on the sumptuous red velvet sofas in front of the fire in the cooler months or throw open the doors onto the terrace when it’s warmer. Tucked away by the French doors is a chess set on one side and a reading nook on the other, should you fancy space to chill out.
The ground floor has one double bedroom with sliding-door access to the decked terrace, and a snug room-come-bedroom with a king-size sofa bed. Open the windows and let the lovely sea breeze float in as you rest on cool cotton sheets. Both bedrooms share a contemporary ensuite shower room. Upstairs, you’ll find the views just get better. The inviting super-king master bedroom is light, airy, and has a generous and contemporary ensuite shower room, with an oval bath just asking to be filled with bubbles. There’s a cosy bedroom with two single beds (not zip and link); and a lovely double bedroom with a large en suite shower. Down the hallway is an elegant, tiled monochrome family bathroom, complete with a freestanding bath.
Outside is the sublime decked terrace and garden. On a summer’s day, you’ll be able to soak up the sunshine and scenery whether you choose to laze in the hammock, feast around the table, or lean against the rails with a glass of fizz. During the evening why not enjoy the hot tub, newly installed for Summer 2025, which is capable of accommodating 8 guests. Underneath the terrace is a clever private gym room with a view, complete with a treadmill, bike machine and weights.
Fresh Escapes will provide access details to the property exactly 48 hours before your check in time. The Spinney is for your exclusive use.
The Spinney is professionally managed by Fresh Escapes. A Devon based privately owned Vacation Rental and Management company who are here to ensure your stay runs as smoothly as possible.
If you want to explore a bit further than the garden, you can pop down to Broadsands – an idyllic sand-and-stone beach. Explore the rock pools at low tide or play a spot of football or cricket on the parkland directly behind the beach. The long promenade provides a level walk to both ends of the beach and has brightly coloured beach huts available to hire for the day. Its location makes it an ideal starting point for scenic coastal walks.
You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to food. Try the Waterside Inn or, down on the beach, K’ohana and The Venus Cafe. Rowcroft Hospice Shop & Tea Room is just five minutes’ stroll from the Spinney. Head to Squires to treat yourself to traditional fish and chips.
Stoke Gabriel is a great place to explore, and The Shack there is very popular for breakfast, so worth booking. Sandridge Barton, Sharpham Wine’s vineyard is 10mins drive away, and has a very nice restaurant. Young’s Park, by the Goodrington’s Beach is a short drive or a very pretty coastal walk away. As well as a beautiful, sandy beach, it has lots of entertainment for the family, including mini golf, kids playground, giant inflatable slides, a pond with Swan Pedalos for hire in the summer and Cantina, a fantastic beachstyle restaurant.
Paignton itself is one of the brightest jewels in the English Riviera’s crown. The seafront and town centre shops are all within close proximity, making it an ideal Devon holiday resort for that relaxing break away. Once you arrive, you don’t have to go far, but of course, there is plenty to see and do in the area if you wish to get out and about and explore. Visit the popular seaside towns of Brixham and Torquay, which are a short bus ride away. Also Kingswear and Dartmouth, as well as Greenway House (Agatha Christie’s home) and Dittisham. And the wild, open moorlands of Dartmoor are easy to get to by car. Like the rest of the English Riviera, Paignton benefits from a mild climate and sub-tropical palm trees, giving that real continental, holiday feel, and when we are blessed with good weather, you could be anywhere in the world. But, like all our coastal towns, they showcase their own beauty in the winter months too, so whatever time of year you choose to visit, you are sure to have an enjoyable stay.
It’s just a short bus ride to Brixham, Kingswear and into Paignton - and the bus stop is conveniently located just outside The Spinney.
