Welcome to our old, but perfectly restored house, located in the town of Ballabio, in the heart of Valsassina. The area is 10 minutes from Lake Como, and an hour’s drive from Milan. The house is on 3 floors, with ample space for relaxation and comfort. There are two bedrooms, three bathrooms, two double beds and three other single beds. In particular, on the ground floor there is a large living room with dining area. The kitchen is well equipped and, also on the ground floor, a bathroom with a full shower. Going up to the first floor there are two cozy bedrooms, with double beds and each room has a private bathroom. One of the two bedrooms has an internal staircase leading to the top attic floor, where you can find another three single beds and a desk. There is also a washing machine, in addition to other appliances. For guests who wish to reach us by car, the house offers private parking. The house is an ancient farmhouse that is part of the historic first nucleus of the town, so old that legend has it that Leonardo Da Vinci stayed there during his visit to Valsassina! The renovation was carried out directly by the owner, who wanted to combine the maintenance of the ancient architectural elements with one of the most innovative environmental redevelopment interventions (the house is in class AA+++). The location of our house is ideal for those who wish to explore the Lake Como region, immersing themselves in the mountain scenery. Whether you want to go on adventurous hikes, enjoy climbing experiences in the nearby mountains or practice winter sports such as skiing, this is the perfect base for your outdoor activities.

About the area
Lecco, Italy, is a picturesque town that offers a delightful blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and a serene atmosphere. Nestled at the southern end of Lake Como and surrounded by the towering peaks of the Bergamo Alps, Lecco is a paradise for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The town's waterfront promenade is a perfect starting point for visitors, offering stunning views of the lake and mountains. The promenade leads to the historic center, where narrow cobblestone streets and charming piazzas reveal a wealth of architectural treasures, including the Basilica of San Nicolò with its impressive 96-meter bell tower.
For literature lovers, Lecco is synonymous with the romantic backdrop of Alessandro Manzoni's classic novel "The Betrothed" (I Promessi Sposi). Exploring the places described in the novel, such as the picturesque village of Pescarenico, provides a unique connection to Italy's literary heritage.
Outdoor activities abound in and around Lecco. The surrounding mountains offer excellent opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, and paragliding, catering to adventurers of all skill levels. The lake itself is a hub for water sports, including sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of Lake Como from a different perspective.
Lecco's culinary scene is another highlight, with local restaurants serving delicious Lombard cuisine that features freshwater fish from the lake, polenta, and cheeses from the nearby alpine pastures. The town's proximity to the Valtellina valley also means access to some of the finest wines and cured meats in the region.
Cultural events and festivals add to the town's allure, with music, food, and traditional celebrations taking place throughout the year. The Manzoni Museum, dedicated to the life and works of the famous author, and the Palazzo delle Paure, which hosts art exhibitions, are cultural hotspots that enrich the visitor experience.
Lecco's combination of stunning landscapes, cultural depth, and recreational activities makes it an ideal destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure. Its less touristy atmosphere compared to other Lake Como towns allows for a more authentic Italian experience, making Lecco a hidden gem worth discovering.
