Although Casa Malany is located in a fairly peaceful area, it is very close to the local amenities. The bustling town centre of Pollensa is just a 10-minute drive away, placing visitors in the heart of a wide range of fun activities. Pollensa has often been praised for its vibrant local markets, which are placed in the main plaza of the town centre. The Pollensa Market has over 300 stalls, inviting guests to explore an assortment of local goods from a wide selection of native merchants. These stalls sell a range of clothes, artisan craft pieces, and other luxury goods. Some sellers even provide a large assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables, helping guests to gain a true taste of Pollensa. The Pollensa Market is open every Sunday from 8 am till 1 pm.
Just 2-minutes away from the town centre of Pollensa is Placa Almonia, a small square that is teeming with ancient history. This unique landmark is home to a small house that was used to deliver money to some of Pollensa’s poorest citizens. In addition, this square hosted a large battle between the local villagers and those who ambushed the region back in 1550. On August 2nd, the locals gather in the square to remember those who lost their lives defending this beautiful town. The fountain in the centre of the square also hosts a large rooster sitting at the top, which is the Medieval symbol of Pollensa. Placa Almonia is an ideal spot for any European history lover as it has many hidden elements that are not usually recognised by standard tourists.
If you are travelling to Pollensa in November, you have the chance to visit the annual Pollensa Trade Fair. This event occurs on the fourth Sunday after Saint Lucas, which is usually the second Sunday in November. During this fair, guests are transported back to the 1800s and have the opportunity to explore a plethora of market stalls that sell an array of traditional products. Guests can purchase hand-woven bags and other nuanced craft items. The Polenta Trade Fair takes place across the entirety of the town, including Placa Major, Cloister of Santo Domingo, and Placa Ca les Munnares.
