Villa Alighieri is a luxurious holiday home that impresses with its sense of grandeur and elegant architecture inside and out. It sits in a stunning spot near beautiful Lake Maggiore, with the amenities and attractions of the town of Stresa within walking distance. There’s also a lovely lakeside promenade within a 10-minute walk for enjoying an evening stroll. It’s also easy to take the ferry over to the famous Borromean Islands and other Lake Maggiore towns and villages.
There’s a stately and almost regal feel throughout Villa Alighieri. The spacious and warm accommodation is set over three floors, making this villa great for large groups and families. Relax in the large living room with two distinct areas for all moods. Enjoy sociable movie nights in one of the spaces that also has a small dining table and doors that lead into the outside space. The slightly more formal living area is ideal for just sitting back on the comfortable sofas and watching the flames dancing in the fireplace on cooler nights. Mealtimes with a sense of occasion are on offer in the grand dining room, with the fully-equipped, modern kitchen also having a table to eat at.
There are eight bedrooms in total, spread over the two upper floors. Offering space and a feeling of calm are six double bedrooms, with many also featuring balcony terrace access and spectacular views over the garden. Two of these bedrooms also benefit from having their own en-suite bathroom. All guests have use of the three beautifully-appointed family bathrooms.
Within the courtyard terrace is a large, private swimming pool that’s surrounded by sun loungers, with a pool house close by. There’s also a charming pergola with outdoor seating for enjoying al fresco meals and a parasol-shaded lounge area for pre-dinner drinks. Fantastic extra features found around the spacious grounds are a tennis court, pétanque terrain and even a chapel.
Being near to idyllic Lake Maggiore and the town of Stresa means a range of activities are on your doorstep. Take a walk along the lakeside promenade nearby and soak up the glorious views. Also go hiking in the nearby mountains and valleys. Reaching the Borromean Islands with their grand houses and gardens is easy, with regular ferry trips leaving from the waterfront at Stresa.

Enjoy everything that this lakeside town has to offer, with a great range of restaurants, bars and shops within a 5-minute walk.
The heart of Stresa is just a short walk away and is great for getting a taste of the laidback atmosphere found all along Lake Maggiore. There are plenty of sightseeing opportunities here also. Villa Pallavicino is of the most popular landmarks, with its fascinating zoo and gardens. Take the cable car to Monte Mottarone for panoramic views over the lake before enjoying a fresh fish lunch at one of the town’s many waterside restaurants. Stresa also has a train station, so you can be indulging in some serious retail therapy in chic Milan in just an hour.
Take the ferry over to the Borromean Islands, which are made up of Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori. Each has its own attractions, with Isola Bella being home to an impressive 17th-century palace and gardens. More picturesque gardens can be found on Isola Madre, with a rambling botanical garden full of bright and colourful plants to stroll around. Isola dei Pescatori is the smallest and most picturesque of the islands and is known for its red-roofed fishermen’s houses.
Lakeside Cannobio (37 km) is one of the most popular towns to visit in the Lake Maggiore area. Discover its old town and the ancient houses and flights of narrow steps that make it so atmospheric. Historic landmarks include 13th-century Palazzo Parasi and the Church of Santa-Marta. The town also has a pretty harbour area where you can watch boats coming and going.
Other interesting places that are easy to reach include Monte Mottarone (20 km), Arona (20 km) and Orta San Giulio (25 km).
