Thoughtful attention has been given to accessibility, as the downstairs area is fully wheelchair-friendly, complete with a spacious double shower and a high-quality double pull-out sofa bed in the lounge. This ensures that all guests, including those with mobility challenges or elderly family members, can fully participate in the joyful gatherings.

THE SPACE
Inside
As you enter the property, you’ll find yourself on a fully enclosed, south-facing paved terrace, accessible through elegant French doors. Step inside to discover a spacious and inviting kitchen, fully equipped for your culinary needs. Gather around the breakfast bar while the designated chef prepares dinner. With a Quooker tap at your disposal, brewing your morning coffee or pouring chilled sparkling water for a warm summer evening is effortless.
A hallway leads from the kitchen, featuring more French doors that open back onto the terrace. Conveniently located here is a ground-floor shower room with a generous double shower, perfect for rinsing off before enjoying a soak in the hot tub.
Continuing through the space, you’ll be awed by the expansive lounge and dining area, characterized by high ceilings adorned with two stunning chandeliers and an exquisite hand-painted mural of the rolling Devon hills looking down to a Torbay-inspired coastline. Gather around the large dining table, which comfortably seats up to eight guests, before cozying up on the spacious L-shaped sofa or beanbag for a movie night in front of the TV, or challenge friends to a game of Crokinole by the wood-burning stove.
A staircase invites you upstairs, where you’ll find three serene bedrooms and a gym/yoga studio that includes a WaterRower and a workstation for those who need to catch up on emails while away. The master bedroom features a super king bed and an ensuite shower room, while the other two bedrooms each offer two single beds that can be converted to a super king on request. These two bedrooms share a family bathroom with a feature two person bath, ensuring comfort for all guests.
Outside
The sun drenched terrace is enclosed by a privacy fence allowing you to unwind on the outside furniture, soak in the 5 person hot tub or cook up a feast on the Bushbeck BBQ is peace. To the side of the property is a pathway that leads you the side terrace with a feature boat shaped seat and the large French doors leading back inside to the lounge.

GETTING AROUND
Car is recommended but not essential as there is a bus stop at Marldon Cross, around a 10 minute walk from the property that will take you into Paignton Bus station and the local Stagecoach bus network taking you around the Bay and further afield to Exeter or Plymouth. Paignton also has a train station with connections through to London, Birmingham and further afield.
A 10 minute drive in the opposite direction takes you into Totnes railway station which is on the mainline train route. There are two or three trains an hour (30 mins) to Plymouth and Exeter (30 mins). By car, it’s 40 mins to both.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Woodpeckers is situated in Marldon on the edge of The English Riviera comprising of Brixham, Paignton and Torquay. Torquay is a chic resort town with a distinctly continental feel, catering to a wide range of tastes. For watersports, fishing, and sailing, Torquay offers an excellent selection of beaches. In the evenings, enjoy fine dining, theatre, cinema, and star-studded shows suitable for all ages.
Torquay is also home to some of Devon’s top attractions, including Kents Cavern, the 800-year-old Torre Abbey with its Agatha Christie-inspired Potent Plants Garden, and Babbacombe Model Village. Step back in time as you wander through Cockington’s narrow lanes, a charming village with thatched houses dating back to the 16th century. You can also walk the Agatha Christie Mile and visit sites from her novels. Take a picturesque steam train to Kingswear and board a riverboat up the Dart to visit her stunning riverside estate at Greenway, managed by the National Trust.
