One of the main attractions in Capilungo is its stunning coastline. The clear, turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. The rocky coastline, interspersed with small sandy coves, is ideal for those who enjoy exploring and finding their own private spot by the sea. The promenade along the coast is perfect for leisurely walks, with the gentle sea breeze and the sound of the waves providing a tranquil soundtrack to your stroll.
The region's cuisine is another highlight, with local trattorias serving fresh seafood and traditional Puglian dishes. The use of locally sourced ingredients, such as olive oil from the surrounding groves and vegetables from nearby fields, ensures that each meal is a celebration of the region's agricultural bounty.
Capilungo is also an excellent base for exploring the wider Salento area. The region is dotted with historic towns like Gallipoli, with its ancient walls and beautiful old town, and Lecce, often referred to as the 'Florence of the South' due to its baroque architecture. Both are within easy driving distance and offer a wealth of cultural and historical sights.
