If you consider yourself to be an avid fan of European history, a trip to Placa de l’Almonia is a must-do activity. This small square contains a house that was once used to care for some of Pollensa’s most vulnerable citizens during the difficult times of the 14th century. Thus, this landmark is regarded as a key part of the region’s impeccable legacy. It was also seen as a battleground on the 30th of May 1550 when violent ambushers led an attack on the native citizens. This conflict is still remembered to this day with the contemporary citizens holding a moving service every August. Placa de l’Almonia is based just under 10 minutes away from the villa.
Puig de Maria is based on top of a tremendous 330-metre summit and presents one of the region’s most iconic religious landmarks. Guests are encouraged to embark on a light 30-minute hike until they reach the archaic 14th-century monastery that is located here. This building was originally crafted as a devoted shrine to the Virgin Mary and contained a wealth of impressive religious fixtures and artefacts. If you do not feel comfortable travelling inside these caves, there are a collection of benches found outside of the structures.
