At the other end of the room, there is a dining table with 4 chairs, next to the open-plan kitchen, which is well-equipped with a cooker hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and coffee machine. The private terrace acts like an extension of the living room, as it is accessed from the seating area via large sliding doors and a big glass door from the kitchen. There is a shaded dining area with a table and 6 chairs, as well as deck chairs and a café-style table and chairs, so guests can enjoy the stunning mountain views in comfort. It is just a 6-minute walk from Melano’s beach, with a beautiful lido. It is an excellent location for a relaxing holiday exploring the Italian speaking Ticino canton. Known as “Il Magnifico Borgo” (the Magnificent Town) Mendrisio (8 minutes) is one of the gems of Ticino. Its cobbled streets and vibrant squares are full of tempting boutiques and excellent restaurants. Wednesday is market day and here you can pick up fresh, high-quality ingredients to cook at home. The nearby town of Bissone (7 minutes) is a former fishing village which overlooks the Melide causeway across Lake Lugano. This is the only link between this southern part of Ticino to the rest of Switzerland. Melide is the home of Swissminiatur (19 minutes), Switzerland in miniature, with more than 120 models of Switzerland’s most important landmarks and transport system. The closest international airports are in Italy - Milan Malpensa 1 hour by car, or Milan Linate, a 1 hour and 10-minute journey. If you are arriving by train the closest station is Melano-Maroggia (2-minute drive)
