House rules

  • House Rules:
  • WHILE ENJOYING YOUR STAY Please enjoy yourselves and make yourselves at home. Please treat the home with the same respect you would treat your own home. Our “house rules' ' are few… please use good judgment and common sense. Much Mahalo in advance!
  • • Sand toys for the beach; kitchen utensils for the kitchen.
  • • When using the grill, please make sure to clean the grill after each use. Clean the grease trap (the trap is the black removable tray located above the tank), which is accessible from the front of the grill. And please change and clean the grease drip pan prior to overfill. There are extra disposable drip pans for use during your stay. After using the grill, cool and cover after every use.
  • • Do not dispose of charcoal into the ocean and be sure they are cooled before disposing. After using the grill, cool and cover.
  • • Please turn off lights during the day when not in use.
  • • Phone calls on Oahu are free. Please use a credit card for other outside areas.
  • • Big trash cans are outside located by the garage. Line with bags and keep covered. Rubbish is picked up on Wednesday mornings. Place a gray rubbish can on the street side outside the gate on Tuesday night.
  • • The plumbing can be sensitive, please flush only toilet paper down the toilet.
  • • Keep the street gate closed when you are home and away. For best security protection, be sure to lock all windows when leaving for the day. Do not leave valuables within sight in the house through windows. Put all “toys” away when you leave for the day. When going down to the beach, we recommend you lock the house and close windows and doors. Occasionally the wind shifts from the trades (NE) to Kona (S). Bugs may swarm around the outside floodlights and will stay outside if you turn the inside lights off. If you accidentally break anything during your stay, please be sure to give us a call or leave a note so that we know to repair or replace it.
  • Ocean and recreational equipment is provided for Guest's enjoyment but can lead to dangerous and hazardous activities.
  • Please check the equipment prior to use and use at your own risk. Before You Go to the Beach
  • From HIOceanSafety.com
  • Please exercise caution as ocean conditions can be unpredictable and dangerous.
  • Always choose a lifeguard-protected beach to enjoy the water in the safest way possible. Strong currents, shorebreak, and the changing seasons can also affect how dangerous a beach can be. Understanding these ocean conditions can help you pick the right beach for your skill level and the activities you want to do.
  • When in Doubt, Don’t Go Out
  • Being in the ocean is more physically demanding on your body than swimming in a pool, pond, river or creek. Anyone intending to snorkel, swim or participate in other water activities should be an experienced ocean swimmer familiar with the risks and dangers associated with high surf, strong currents, and waves breaking in shallow water.
  • It is also important to know your current health and fitness condition before going into the ocean. Certain individuals have a higher risk of injury when participating in any kind of physical activity, including ocean-related activities.
  • If you don’t exercise on a regular basis, or if you have health issues or concerns, talk to your doctor before you participate in any ocean activity.
  • Check with your doctor first if you have:
  • Heart disease or stroke
  • High blood pressure, or a resting blood pressure of 160/90 mmHg or higher
  • Asthma or other lung disease
  • Type 1 or type 2 diabetes
  • Kidney disease
  • Arthritis
  • Cancer, or have recently completed cancer treatment
  • You should also check with your doctor if you have experienced the following symptoms:
  • Pain, discomfort or pressure in your chest during physical activity or at rest
  • Pain in your neck, jaw, or arms during physical activity
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting or loss of consciousness
  • Shortness of breath while at rest
  • Rapid or pronounced heartbeat
  • Heart murmur
  • Even if you have not experienced the above, you should consult your doctor before participating in an ocean activity if any of the following apply:
  • You’re 35 years of age or older
  • You have a family history of heart disease before age 60
  • You smoke or have quit smoking in the past six months
  • You don’t normally exercise for at least 30 minutes, most days of the week
  • You’re overweight
  • You have high cholesterol
  • You have pre-diabetes
  • If you are unsure of your health or fitness level, have other health problems or are pregnant or may be pregnant, speak with your doctor before participating in any ocean activity. It’s always safest to know before you go.
  • Other Recreational Equipment

  • Violators may be fined up to $40.
  • Bicycling after Dark

  • Red rear reflector that can be seen from 600 feet
  • Reflective material on both wheels visible from 600 feet
  • Riding while intoxicated is Illegal
