Two miles from the bustling town of Woodstock, Archways offers a tranquil getaway with a distinctly Mediterranean style. Among the many high points, the property features a heated saline pool (in season) and expansive deck, three wonderful living rooms and two fireplaces in a backyard surrounded by mature oak and pine trees
A brick-lined arched entrance welcomes guests into a lantern lined hallway leading to the front door. With a neutral palette, high ceilings punctuated with skylights and beams, dark woods and a painted white brick fireplace, the primary living room is inviting and cozy, with a sectional sofa and a hanging chair that overlooks the deck.
The chef’s kitchen includes a gas stove and loads of counter space, including a large island with seating for four and a rustic wood dining table with benches.
There is a second brick fireplace, this one in the den, where a desk is at the ready should you have to dip into a bit of work. But it’s also a delightful lounge spot where one can sink into the sofa, sip a cocktail and gaze out the sliding glass doors which lead out onto the deck. Rounding out this part of the house is also a full bathroom with a tub-shower.
The four bedrooms and library are in another wing of the house. In the library, there is a sofa, bookshelves filled with interesting reading material, and a television. The room has massive windows overlooking the side garden, making this perfect room to cuddle up and bury yourself into your favorite book.
The primary bedroom has a king bed and includes an en-suite with a walk-in shower. Two other bedrooms have queen-sized beds. One is dubbed the “Audrey” room in honor of the Audrey Hepburn photo. This room is classic in every way with black and white decor. The other queen bedroom is the “Beach” room, and takes you away to a warm place with blue and coastal decor. The final bedroom is the best kids room, featuring three twin beds and a mini tee-pee to tuck into for story time. There is a shared bathroom in the hallway with a tub/shower.
The outdoors is as compelling as the interior. On the 2,000 square foot deck is a gas BBQ grill, picnic table with an umbrella, and multiple seating options. There is a circular “carve-out” of the deck, creating a sunken rock garden with a propane fire pit area with seating.
The heated saltwater pool is flanked by chaise lounges and other seating. Behind the pool, tucked beneath the trees is a wood burning firepit encircled by Adirondack chairs, the best spot to sit back and star gaze while roasting marshmallows. The backyard is entirely fenced in and private, and there is also a basketball hoop in the front driveway and a couple of yellow beach cruiser bicycles available for use.
*Please note that the pool is available during the summer season only. Please inquire regarding opening and closing dates.
