“Windansea" is an architectural beauty that greets you with coastal elegance at every turn. Life outside is where the true BHI memories are made, and this home provides it in abundance. You will be greeted by a southern lower level covered front porch where you can enjoy relaxing while listening to the ocean. Have coffee or cocktails or take refuge from the sun or rain on the stunning second level porch. Outdoor living continues with the unique 3rd-story covered deck high above the tree-tops (affectionately called “the nest”) which is really an extended outdoor second “family room” where you will likely spend a significant amount of your time relaxing and socializing. It is equipped with an outside kitchen, cushy seating and ocean breezes and views. You will love to use this hard-to-leave location for morning coffee, afternoon napping, meal grilling, evening cocktails, and of course sunset watching. And if you want still more outdoor space, enjoy the two lower screened-in porches (one lounging, one dining), multiple kid hangout places, and a private fenced-in yard.
Windansea is nestled on a private, large lot, surrounded by trees and natural vegetation just steps to the Ocean and Shoals Club. Between 212 and 214 Portsmouth Way you will find a wooden plank pathway that goes over the “hill" where you cross Station House Way to #41 Beach Access.
The home is laid out in a reverse floor plan with the primary living space on the second floor, which is at the tree-top level allowing for sunlight to cascade in from the sunrise to sunset. There are dual Master Bedrooms both with King-size Beds and ensuite Bathrooms giving you the choice to sleep downstairs (closer to younger kids) or upstairs (further from older ones). There are two Queen Guest rooms - one with a trundle bed and they share a Jack and Jill bathroom. And, if you need an escape or have a larger group, there is a separate Crofter over the double Garage area that is the 5th Bedroom with a King Bed and an ensuite Bathroom, mini-refrigerator and counter. “Close but still away” is how we like to describe this private space. The Crofter Deck is a perfect spot for stargazing after a relaxing day at the beach.
The main living area is open, grand and can hold lots of people at any one time, making family gatherings super easy and all inclusive. The fully stocked Gourmet Kitchen will allow the chef in your group to make memorable meals for all to enjoy while dining at the XL dining table.
In true BHI fashion, cozy spaces mesh effortlessly with high end finishes - 10’+ ceilings, large Bedrooms, built-ins, this high-end custom home construction has it all to make your BHI vacation a great one.
Windansea’s namesake is from another well-known beach from the owner’s original hometown of La Jolla, California and is definitely a home that will enhance your family vacation and help you create lasting memories for years to come.

About the area
Bald Head Island, North Carolina, is a serene and exclusive retreat known for its pristine beaches, lush maritime forests, and leisurely pace of life. Accessible only by ferry from the nearby town of Southport, this car-free island offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where golf carts and bicycles are the primary modes of transportation.
Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the sight of the historic Bald Head Island Lighthouse, affectionately known as "Old Baldy." As the oldest standing lighthouse in North Carolina, it provides a glimpse into the island's past and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area for those willing to climb to the top.
The island's beaches are a major draw, with 14 miles of sandy shores that invite sunbathing, swimming, and beachcombing. The South Beach area is particularly popular for its gentle waves and wide expanse of sand, making it ideal for families. For a more secluded experience, East Beach offers a quieter setting where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Cape Fear River.
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the Bald Head Island Conservancy, a key player in the preservation of the island's diverse ecosystems. The conservancy offers guided tours, educational programs, and the chance to see local wildlife, including sea turtles that nest on the beaches during the summer months.
The island's maritime forest is another natural treasure, with a network of trails that wind through a canopy of live oaks, sabal palms, and dogwoods. Hikers and bird watchers will find these paths a peaceful haven for observing the island's flora and fauna.
Golfers can enjoy the Bald Head Island Club's championship golf course, which is renowned for its beauty and challenging play. The course meanders through dunes, marshes, and woodlands, providing a memorable golfing experience.
For dining and shopping, visitors can explore the quaint Harbour Village, where a selection of restaurants offer fresh seafood and local cuisine. The village's shops provide a range of goods from artisan crafts to beach essentials.
Accommodations on Bald Head Island range from cozy cottages to luxurious vacation homes, many of which offer stunning views of the ocean or maritime forest.
