Located on Beech Mountain, The Bear’s Den is minutes away from High Country adventure. Beech Mountain Ski Resort is a short five-minute drive and offers year-round activities. Guests will enjoy 17 ski runs and an ice skating rink during winter, then mountain biking trails and disc golf in the summer. Take a hike on one of the many trails only minutes from the home. Buckeye Recreation Area is less than 3 miles away, with fishing, basketball and tennis courts, a playground, and a hiking trail to a beautiful waterfall. Twenty minutes down the mountain, the quaint town of Banner Elk offers local shopping and dining, the Banner Elk Winery and Vineyard, the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster, Sugar Creek Gem Mining, and is home to Lees McRae College. The Bear’s Den is a two-level mountain home that accommodates nine guests. The great room has beautiful wood details, including exposed beams and tongue-and-groove ceilings. Reclining couches arranged around a gas fireplace and HDTV make a cozy spot to relax and unwind after a day of hiking or skiing. The expansive covered deck features a hot tub where guests can enjoy breathtaking mountain views. There is an outdoor dry bar with a mini-fridge and TV, the perfect place for your whole family to enjoy your favorite meal. The fully stocked kitchen has new stainless steel appliances to meet all your cooking needs. Downstairs is the game room with a pool table, PacMan arcade game, and a comfortable lounging area around the HDTV to take in the big game. The lower deck leads to a fire pit where guests can roast marshmallows and share their favorite memories.
The main level has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has a full-size bed, ensuite bathroom, and access to the covered deck. The other two bedrooms also have full-size beds and HDTVs and share a Jack-N-Jill bathroom. One of these bedrooms also has access to the covered deck. Downstairs, the bunk room accommodates three in the twin-over-full bunk beds. There is an additional full bathroom on this level.
The Bear’s Den offers WiFi and live TV through the SlingTV app and other streaming accounts. Mini-split units in the main level living area and lower level game room provide AC and heat. The bedrooms do not have AC, but they do have baseboard heaters for winter comfort. Access to the house is by a gravel road, and there is parking for three vehicles in a level gravel parking area. There is a set of stairs leading to the house. Two pets are welcome with your reservation, and additional fees will apply. Guests in winter should be prepared with AWD or 4WD and tire chains.
