Located less than seven minutes from Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and Sugar Mountain Public Golf Course, this destination offers easy access to local dining, shopping, parks, and the great outdoors. Breathe in the fresh mountain air as you explore the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, where hikers of all skill levels can enjoy a variety of trails. Grandfather Mountain and the iconic Mile-High Bridge are just seven miles away, providing exciting hiking trails and wildlife exhibits for guests of all ages. Downtown Banner Elk, home to Lees-McRae College, is also a quick seven-minute drive away, offering local shopping, dining, and attractions. For wine lovers, Banner Elk Winery and Grandfather Vineyard & Winery are both just six miles from the retreat. Beech Mountain Ski Resort is less than 25 minutes away, making this retreat ideal for winter enthusiasts. Whether it’s skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snow tubing, or sledding, you’ll be less than 10 miles from the slopes of both Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain Ski Resorts. When winter melts into spring, the High Country transforms into a vibrant landscape of warm sunny days and cool, crisp nights, perfect for exploring the beauty of nature in every season.

This quaint cabin, featuring a charming stacked stone exterior, opens into a cozy interior with wood floors and floor-to-ceiling tongue and groove paneling. In the living room, you can relax in a leather reclining chair, chaise lounge, or plush sofa, all arranged around a gas log fireplace and TV. The kitchen boasts custom wood countertops and a bar with additional seating, complemented by a beautiful handcrafted dining table. Coffee enthusiasts will appreciate the high-end espresso machine or the convenience of a Keurig. Step outside to dine al fresco or unwind in the rocking chairs, soaking in the peaceful wooded surroundings. The decks feature a gas grill and relaxing hot tub with plenty of seating. A fire pit with Adirondack seating, along with a charcoal grill, offers the perfect setup for outdoor gatherings and relaxation for all to enjoy.
The main floor master bedroom features a king bed, TV, and an ensuite bathroom for added convenience. The upstairs loft is an ideal retreat for kids, equipped with two twin beds, a playful tepee, and a TV with a tree of twinkling lights. Downstairs, you’ll find two queen bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a cozy sitting area complete with leather chairs, a TV, and an arcade game for hours of fun.
Bear Ridge Retreat is dog-friendly, accommodating up to two dogs for an additional fee. Dog lovers will appreciate the fenced yard and enclosed front porch, perfect for furry friends. The cabin features six TVs, each equipped with Roku in Guest mode, along with instructions for accessing Netflix, Hulu, and other apps.
Parking is level and gravel, accommodating up to four vehicles. During winter months (November to March), 4WD or AWD vehicles, and/or chains are recommended for all homes. Travelers visiting during this time should be prepared for inclement weather, as no refunds, allowances, or date changes will be provided for those unprepared, as stated in the Rental Agreement.
For security, there is one exterior camera installed at the top front left, which monitors the front driveway, trash cans, and the road directly in front of the home.
