Welcome to The Bear at Sugar Mountain!
Located on Sugar Mountain, The Bear at Sugar Mountain is about three miles from Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, public golf course and tennis courts, making this custom four bedroom cabin the ideal home for a year-round mountain getaway. Winter activities include skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and snow tubing at the golf course. Take a roller coaster ride through the trees at Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster, 7 minutes away. Downtown Banner Elk, home to Lees McRae College, is less than 6 miles away and features local shopping and dining options. Grandfather Winery, seven miles away, is open year-round and offers live music at the vineyard. Grandfather Mountain, and the famous mile-high bridge, is only nine miles away where guests of all ages can enjoy the hiking trails and wildlife exhibits. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a twenty minute drive from the cabin and offers scenic drives, overlooks, and hiking trails for hikers of varying skill levels.
The Bear at Sugar Mountain is a modern custom-built mountain home with Scandinavian influences. Upon entering the home guests are greeted with clean lines, expansive windows, bright white walls, and exposed beams offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. The living space is both elegant and cozy with a sleek floor to ceiling wood-burning fireplace and HDTV. The living room provides a comfortable space to relax after a day of mountain adventures. The cathedral ceiling and natural beams throughout the great room blend the living room and kitchen seamlessly. The gourmet chef’s kitchen has beautiful quartz countertops, state-of-the-art Italian appliances and a coffee bar with wine cooler. The chef in your group is sure to enjoy whipping up a delicious meal at the induction oven to be enjoyed at the nearby dining table. Gather around the large island with a quartz waterfall edge to exchange stories of the day’s explorations. The back deck houses a hot tub where guests can relax after a day on the slopes, or grill out on gas grill while marveling at the mountain views. The fire pit in the lower yard is awaiting your s’mores and campfire stories. The loft off the kitchen is a perfect oasis for the kids to escape to and watch TV on the beanbag chairs.
The Bear at Sugar Mountain features four spacious bedrooms, including two master suites, and can accommodate up to twelve guests. The master bedroom, located off the living room has a king bed and private ensuite with a level entry shower. The back deck and hot tub can be accessed from this bedroom. The second master bedroom also has a king bed and private ensuite with a level entry shower. A third king bedroom shares a full Jack-N-Jill bathroom with a bunk room. The bunk room houses two built-in queen-over-queen bunkbeds.
Guests are provided WiFi, central heating and air conditioning, YouTube TV, laundry room, and a mudroom with storage for snow boots and bibs. Pets are not allowed at The Bear at Sugar Mountain. Please be advised that there are exterior security cameras in place. The house is accessed via one step-up to the door. There is parking for three vehicles in the gravel driveway, with a conveniently located EV charger in the parking area. 4WD or AWD and tire chains are recommended for winter traveling. Pets are not allowed at The Bear at Sugar Mountain.
