Conveniently located just a mile from the historic Mast General Store and Valle Crucis Riverfront Park, Watauga Flats is central to all that the High Country has to offer. Boone is only 5 miles away, Banner Elk is about 9 miles away, and Blowing Rock is just 11 miles away. Nearby winter activities include snow skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, and ice skating, with Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and Appalachian Ski Mountain located about 12 miles away, and Beech Mountain Ski Resort just 14 miles away. Hawksnest Snow Tubing and Zip Lines Park is 11 miles from the cabin. Additionally, Grandfather Mountain is less than 15 miles away, and Tweetsie Railroad is only 10 miles from Watauga Flats.
The main level features an open floor plan with high vaulted ceilings and hardwood floors. The cozy living room includes a gas fireplace set in a stacked stone wall, a flat-screen TV with paid programming, and skylights that fill the space with natural light. The dining area boasts a banquet-style table that seats up to 6 guests. The kitchen is equipped with stunning granite countertops, high-end stainless steel appliances, and a large center island perfect for meal preparation.
On the main floor, you’ll find a bedroom with a queen bed, where you can hear and see the nearby Watauga River. The main floor bathroom includes a frameless glass-door tiled shower and a soaking tub. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms: one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds. A full bathroom with a step-in shower serves both of these upstairs bedrooms. The open loft area has a TV and a sitting area with a sofa that converts into a double-size sleeper.
Accessed from the dining and living room, the open-air wrap-around deck offers a view of the spacious backyard and the Watauga River. The deck is equipped with a gas grill, an outdoor dining table and chairs, a hot tub, and additional seating.
Watauga Flats provides all the comforts of home, including Wi-Fi, paid TV programming, mini-split air conditioning, and a washer and dryer. Heating is provided by a Rinnai Direct Vent Furnace, ensuring a cozy atmosphere in the cabin. Two pets are welcome with your reservation, although additional pet fees will apply. Winter travelers should prepare for unpredictable weather and may need 4WD or AWD vehicles and chains in case of deep snow or ice.
