The history of the house adds a personal and touching note. It was built in 1820 by a Russian family in honour of their son’s safe return from war. The nearby village of Ambra is about a 15-minute drive away and offers a small selection of shops and restaurants. A wider range of amenities can be found in Bucine, around 18 kilometres away. Just 3.5 kilometres from the house is the restaurant La Casina del Conte, where the owner cooks for a small number of guests in an intimate, private setting. A reservation is required. The cultural treasures of Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, Lake Trasimeno and the UNESCO-listed Val d’Orcia are all within easy reach, as are the charming towns and villages of the Chianti region.
