The Neighborhood
The 1st arrondissement of Paris, often referred to as the "historic heart of Paris", is located in the centre of the city, on the right bank of the Seine. Here is a description of some of the arrondissement's highlights: The Louvre : The 1st arrondissement is home to one of the world's most famous museums, the Louvre. A former royal palace, the Louvre is now an imposing structure housing thousands of works of art, including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Jardin des Tuileries: Adjacent to the Louvre, the Jardin des Tuileries offers a peaceful setting with its tree-lined paths, classical statues and large pool. It's a popular place for strolling and relaxing. Place Vendôme: This square square is renowned for its elegant architecture and history of fine jewellery and luxury brands. The Vendôme column at the centre of the square is an iconic monument. Palais Royal: A former royal residence, the Palais Royal is surrounded by peaceful gardens. The Cour d'Honneur, garden arcades and contemporary sculptures make this a culturally rich place.
