This chic air-conditioned villa sleeps up to 8 guests across its four gorgeous bedrooms, each one featuring a modern ensuite bathroom. On the upper floor, a stylish open-plan living and dining space with an American-style kitchen is flooded with light from the sliding windows that lead straight to the sea-view terrace. On the garden level below, there’s another lounge with a large-screen TV, a second kitchen near the swimming pool and a fitness room and extra shower. It’s wonderful to be able to dine al-fresco on both the upper terrace and beside the swimming pool. Guests of all ages will adore the heated swimming pool whilst the pretty garden is also home to a boules court. All in all, this inviting abode is ideal whether you are a group of friends wishing to experience the surfing vibes of the Pays Basque or a family wanting to enjoy the superb surroundings. Walk down the path and steps to the remote beach nearby and appreciate the incredible scenery around you – it’s a popular spot with surfers (indeed, there are plenty of surfing schools in the region). You may prefer to cycle or drive to Plage d’Ilbarritz or Plage de Bidart whilst the most active of guests can join the coastal hiking route from nearby Plage d’Erretegia. The charming village of Bidart is just 2km away, perched above the coastline and home to traditional Basque houses, inviting restaurants and pretty café terraces. Then there’s the allure of Biarritz with its iconic beaches, Belle Époque architecture and fantastic restaurants and shops, all reached within a 10-minute drive. If flying, Biarritz Airport is 5km away or take the TGV train service from Paris Montparnasse to Gare de Biarritz taking just over four hours. Bilbao’s ferry terminal is less than a 2-hour drive away.     There is a high-end restaurant serving Basque cuisine around a few minutes walk away as well as a large supermarket just as close. Other amenities and restaurants can be found in Bidart (2km) or towards the historic town of Biarritz (5km). Being close to the main road that connects Biarritz to Bidart, Guéthary and beyond, this is an excellent location for exploring the Pays Basque. Bike hire is recommended for keen cyclists with plenty of cycling routes across the area. You can reach the Atlantic coast within 600m via a steep path and steps leading down to the remote Plage des 100 Marches. Alternatively, it is a short drive/cycle ride to wonderful beaches such as Plage d’Ilbarritz (2km), Plage de Milady (2.5km) or south towards Plage de Bidart (2km). The incredible coastal hiking path between Bidart and Hendaye begins close by offering amazing opportunities for keen walkers – start off at Plage d’Erretegia just over 1km away and it takes around 3 hours 30 minutes to reach Saint-Jean-de-Luz. There are also ample surfing schools along this coastline. Bidart (2km) is a charming village with traditional Basque houses, delightful café terraces and inviting restaurants perched above the Atlantic coast below. A little further south, soak up the surfing vibe of Guéthary (4.5km) or spend time at the calmer bay and family-friendly resort of Saint-Jean-de-Luz (10km). Golf enthusiasts have a wide range of courses to choose from in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Biarritz. Some of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ are within easy driving distance such as Ainhoa (23km) and Sare (22km) whilst the handsome city of Bayonne (13km) is an interesting day out. Meanwhile, appreciate the vibrant ambience of nearby Biarritz (5km) and La Grande Plage, it’s iconic city beach.
