It’s wonderful to be able to potter out of your holiday home, pick up fresh bread and locally produced olive oil as well as delicious cheeses and charcuterie from the village deli or Thursday morning market, then wander back for al-fresco lunches by the swimming pool. Or perhaps you may choose to dine out on a café terrace in the village square by the fountain and plane trees.
Back to your holiday home, it is such a charming place to spend time with its open-plan lounge and elegant kitchen with arched doors opening out to the covered terrace and swimming pool with just enough room to relax on a deckchair or sun-lounger. Each of the two air-conditioned bedrooms upstairs features a double bed and a stylish bathroom with an Italian shower and sink.
There are some glorious walks in and around the village, including a hike through the olive groves to neighbouring Les Baux-de-Provence, one of France’s classified ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. Hiking, cycling, horse-riding and rock-climbing are all fantastic ways to appreciate the beautiful landscapes of the Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles or you may prefer to simply drive to local villages and towns to experience this part of Provence – Eygalières and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence are not to be missed.
Further afield, visit the historic city of Avignon, venture to Ménerbes, Lourmarin and other idyllic villages of the Luberon or discover the artistic town of Arles, the gateway to the Camargue. You can sail down the Sorgue River by canoe or kayak from Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, seek our treasures at the Sunday morning brocante in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue or sample wines of the Rhône valley near Châteauneuf-du-Pape – bring back a bottle to enjoy by the swimming pool!
