Villa Madeleine is a contemporary villa with a wonderful garden and swimming pool, a leisurely stroll (partially along country lanes) from a bustling Provençal village and restaurants, ideal for visiting the idyllic landscapes of Les Alpilles.
Make the most of the open-plan living spaces in this architect-designed villa with doors leading out to the gorgeously decked terrace and garden. Sleeping up to 10 guests, each of the five modern bedrooms has its own bathroom and most feature air-conditioning, including the master double upstairs.
Outside, it’s perfect for families and friends alike with ample opportunities for dining by the barbecue or chatting on warm summer evenings in the al-fresco lounge. Across the other side of the garden, the swimming pool will delight all ages, surrounded by a scattering of olive trees so typical of this part of Provence.
Indeed, the local village is famous for its olive oil which you can sample in one of the original mills. Enjoy lunch out in a pizzeria or gastronomic restaurant and visit the weekly market on a Thursday morning. Just a short drive away, book a table at Le Bistrot du Paradou, one of Provence’s most iconic restaurants, recently visited by Rick Stein.
The popular village of Les Baux-de-Provence is only 5km away, one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ with its historic château – get there early to avoid the summer day-trippers, admire the incredible vistas around you, then follow one of the walking trails through the olive groves and hills.
Arles, Avignon and even Aix-en-Provence await, as do picture-perfect places such as Eygalières, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and the archetypal perched villages of the Luberon. Cycle past summer sunflowers and lavender, sample wines from the Rhône valley, seek antique treasures in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and follow the footsteps of Van Gogh in this captivating part of Provence.

Location:
In the Bouches-du-Rhône department of southern France, Villa Madeleine is located on the edge of a bustling village in Les Alpilles.
You can stroll along quiet lanes (with no pavement at times) into the village where you will find a handful of places to eat from pizzerias to traditional French restaurants, alongside nice shops and a grocery store. The weekly market takes place on the main square on Thursday mornings selling seasonal produce of Provence and you can sample the village’s famous AOP olive oil in one of its two mills.
The much-loved village of Les Baux-de-Provence (5km) sits on a hilltop looking out over olive groves and landscapes of Les Alpilles below, a wonderful area for walking. One of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’, visit its famous chateau and potter around the historic lanes. Also take time to stop off in the much quieter village of Paradou (2km), home of Le Bistrot du Paradou, an iconic French establishment that changes its fixed menu each day.
Visit Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (11km) on a Wednesday morning for its bustling market which attracts visitors from across the region whilst picture-perfect Eygalières (19km) hosts a pretty Friday morning market. You are also well located for venturing to the old riverside town of Tarascon (17km) and historic Arles (18km), the gateway to the landscapes of the Camargue.
The UNESCO World Heritage sites of Avignon (32km) are also worthy of a grand day out – combine with a boat trip across to the peaceful île de la Barthelasse or soak up the ambience of one of the city’s many markets. Heading east, Aix-en-Provence (65km) is only an hour by car, a charming and artistic town with such a rich heritage and wonderful ambience.
Then there’s the perched villages of the Luberon such as Bonnieux, Gordes and Ménerbes, all around an hour away, the antique shops of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (43km), canoeing/kayaking opportunities in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse (49km) and the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape (52km) and the Rhône valley.
